Dean said he wanted to raise it to age 70 to help balance the budget.

Raise the age to 105 and REALLY balance the budget!

Some good news for both sides - Howie wins an election on Saturday!

At the very time that Howard Dean, internet fund-raiser and web logger pioneer, is ascending to the post of DNC chair, we suddenly have all these infiltrators and internet attacks. Coincidence? I think not.

I am not completely up to speed on that - )I did read part of Jim's thread); but what you said sounds right. FR has become high profile and would be viewed as a threat by some.

Here's hoping the boss is cooking up a plan to take us to the next level. You know, when the board became moderated, that was a huge change.

We survived that, and, obviously thrived.

"I have never favored a Social Security retirement age of 70 nor do I favor one of 68."

But that contradicted a 1995 article in which Dean said he wanted to raise it to age 70 to help balance the budget

I don't think there is an honest democrat in the nation. They are notoriously stupid to think no one will remember what they said.

Mrs. Government Bean Counter just told by the CBS Evening News piece on Weird Howie wasn't very kind to him. At the end someone on CBS said something to the effect, "Of course, Dean was not interviewed."

Right. So how come we are flogging this dead horse?
What's wrong with us that we can't acknowledge then ignore this liberal "spokesperson"?

"...Ahaaaaah! The "gotchas" are coming already...."

...and he isn't even officially the chairman of the DNC yet. If this is any indication of what's to come...we're in for a hilarious time. LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

I think it is amazing that all of these people that will never need or want SS are so concerned. Nice of them.

I don't know if my poor ol' heart can take two to four years of the Yelper frenziedly back-pedalling faster that a run-away cyclist on the downslope of Mount Reality.

"During a television appearance in June, Dean said an increase to age 70 is no longer necessary, but he would entertain an increase to 68."

So, since one party to the deal can change the rules I must be allowed to as well, right? I'm thinking of lowering my retirement age to 55 and decreasing my contribution to 2% as well. Also, I may have to increase the pay-out too. Can I get the necessary forms for these deal changes online?

And it was so clever of Bush to point that out shortly after the dims went "boooooo" during the SOTU address.

This is a Democrat disaster in waiting. REpublicans need to create issues just to draw Dean into an opposing view, then quickly withdraw the issue to hang him out to dry.

Hell, even Dean doesn't listen or believe anything he says...

Dean is the "leader" that will lead the fanatical America haters over the cliff during the next few years...

There are a lot of poeple that didn't know what he said before. You just can't let him run off at the mouth without correcting him on his lies.
