H.R. 418 IMIIGRATION ALERT!
www.grassfire.org

Posted on 02/09/2005 2:45:27 PM PST by T.L.Sink

H.R.418 is a measure before the House that will strictly control use of drivers'licences by illegal aliens and Grsssfire has sent a petition with over 110,000 signatures to Congress urging their support. They also gave a phone number,202-224-3121, by which one can contact one's representative in DC. To my amazement I delivered my message to my congressman's office in less than two minutes! Everyone concerned about illegals and the threat some potentially pose to national security should become involved!

I can't believe this ridiculous idea has been brought up. What the hell is there to debate about? If you're not a legal citizen of this country, then you can't get a license. How has that become so d*** complicated?

Amen! The old question addressed to our political leaders
bears repeating: What is it about the word "ILLEGAL"
that you don't understand? As has been said before, the
bankrupt school districts, insolvent hospitals, welfare
and prison incarceration costs that come out of our taxes
will seem as nothing if (or should I say when) some
terrorists waltz across the border and kill thousands of
Americans. I think our political leadership is CRIMINALLY
negligent if they don't fulfill their constitutional
duty to protect our borders against foreign invasion.

This bill is bull$**t! You want Federal police asking for your "papers" now.

Are people that are breaking the law going to get them...hell no!

BAD BILL. National ID's are bad too.

I detest government power over people, but from a logical standpoint right now a person Social Sercurity number is used as the defacto National ID (that house has already left the barn by about 70 years back), which lead to a lot of identity theft and fraud. But if there is an official National ID that is solely for identification purposes, this will cut down on identity theft and fraud. Plus a National ID will be another reason to get rid of Social Security altogether.

I have seen nothing to lead me to that conclusion.

Everyone who works, pays taxes, or finances ANYTHING has
already given his date of birth and Social Security
number. It ISN'T a secret and virtually the whole world
has the info. We've seen what the terrorists can do with
the present I.D. "system". There's an old saying: don't
let the perfect be an enemy of the good. If we can make
ANY improvement in the present forms of I.D. documentation
we'll all be safer and more secure. For those of you who
think the feds don't know you -- nice, but about 50 years
too late! The only people who are truly "underground"
today are the illegals or terrorists who are gaming the
PRESENT lousy system.

I have not seen evidence that creating a national ID will be an impovement over what we have now. ANY improvement at all.

I see your point but our latest technology can produce
a national I.D. that is infinitely better than ANYTHING
we now have. We Americans need to remember that the 19
terrorist hijackers had SIXTY-THREE (63!) drivers'
licenses. Their VISAS expired BEFORE the licenses. This
sort of nonsense could easily be prevented. Another fraud
being perpetrated on our people is the "consular" card
issued to illegals by Mexico. A near-perfect, high-tech
national ID would stop this. We've seen the results of
the present I.D. document "system". It's been used by
illegals and terrorists to great advantage. The only
people who should fear a good, reliable system of national identification are those who want to be underground and
anonymous to conduct their nefarious activities.

a state can't use the latest technology?? There are parts of the federal government that haven't heard of Pentium yet.
