agreed : the stick and ball game crowd who don't believe that this a sport, has no idea what physical requirements it takes to be competitive. our son races in a hobby class at willow springs ca. when he won his class champion 04 his mom and me were there and it was hard to see the victory celebration because we had tears in our eyes.

My wife holds the class B record at willow for a corvette she crew chiefed. We met at Sears Point.

I think auto racing is the purest form of being an American. Pure competition, rules to live by and let the best be first!

I wanna see someone who thinks racing isn't a physical sport try to keep up with me in a 250cc shifter kart for more than 10 minutes without their head separating from thier shoulders and with both thumbs still attached.

I would have to borrow the kart from my buddy again, but he's mad at me 'cause I beat him too often.

That's what it was called when I was there in '79 and '80, back when my dad paid the bills.

Zowie a 250cc shifter cart is some serious getting around!

I met Mario Andretti once. The man has hands that are built from all of those years of steering a 200 mph car thats always wanting to get away from you. I thought my hands were big but his were big and extraordinarily muscled.

Most people have not got a clue as to how much exertion goes into driving a race car. A couple of laps in a shifter cart driven at any serious pace would have most people parked and exhausted after just a couple of laps.

Physically I can only do about 30 minutes on the hardest of cone courses, but the smile lasts for weeks. A small oval I could run for hours.
