It's a distinct possibility, now that you mention it.

My only concern is-now that so many luminaries among the deconstructionist left have passed into the great beyond-that the purveyors of pop culture will have to scrounge for another comparably dull, monotone, obscure, neo-Marxist professor to lionize in film, art, letters, etc., etc...

My own suggestion would be that they choose embittered Middle Eastern academic, Stuart Schaar.

Though, that may just be a biased opinion on my part, since I was forced to sit through an entire semester of his anti-Zionist, Arabist pap.

How about destructionist left?

one leftist I can make some common cause with is Christopher Hitchens, who seems to want to dish away politics in the name of actually helping people's lives get better. And that includes the advancement of democracy abroad. I guess it appeals to my Catholic call to help the less fortunate.

Hitchens called Fahrenheit 9/11 a 'work of moral cowardice' and savaged Clinton for selling out liberalism in the name of his own 'ruthless ego.'

BTW, Happy Ash Wednesday to those of you!
