JUst curious..what would would do about spam, which IMHO is close to killing the net? You can't rely on technology for two reasons..the spammers keep jumping ahead..and the really smart people, who mgth figure out a solution, IMHO won't waste their time developig something they'd have to give away..NO, the feds have to get involved, like they did with the DO NOT CALL stuff...That has been wonderful..I haven't ahd a telemarketer call the house since we signed up..used to eb the phone rang nonstop during dinner..

Have you heard the suggestion that users be allowed to set a price for RECEIVING an email? The default price would be 0¢ (i.e., anyone can send you anything). When you send out a message, you would include a field with the amount you are willing to pay to have the message delivered. If it was a joke, then I wouldn't pay much. If it was something important, then I would be willing to put a higher price to ensure the message would be delivered.
If you trade emails with one person frequently, the charges would probably offset (or some mechanism could be put in place to allow messages from certain senders at a zero rate).
It's kinda like filtering, but this way there is a way for the sender to break through the filter (by paying).
