Did you know that the AARP has received over $1 BILLION in taxpayer dollars over the past 20 years?

AARP Caught Manipulating Poll Results Explosive revelation threatens AARP credibility & raises serious questions about a liberal bias inside the AARP.

Who Really Works for America's Families? Art Linkletter discusses which organizations are really working for seniors and their families -- and which one is just claiming too.

Bill O’Reilly Spanks AARP Fox News megastar takes AARP to task for hiding its liberal bias from members.

Is AARP Lying to Seniors? AARP is spending millions of dollars to "educate" the public about President Bush's proposal to reform and strengthen Social Security. But is AARP telling seniors the truth about Social Security and the reform proposals?

AARP Curses USA's Grandchildren AARP fails to recognize that Social Security no longer is a good deal for working people today, the children and grandchildren of its members. Instead, they turn to their old liberal mantra saying "Let Them Be TAXED!"

AARP - Big Government Billionaires AARP has championed high taxes, Big Government and bureaucratic boondoggles since the first day it opened for business in the 1950s.

I no longer belong to the leftist AARP I can afford to stay in a motel without their discount, and their left wing agenda sucks.

Ditto for the same reasons except I never joined.

Their latest attack on the presidents plan to fix SS is just another example of their dedication to leftist policy.

My husband has been getting applications to join AARP for the past few years and has refused to join.

He's 54 and wants no part of this group! When he gets home tonight I'm going to show him Mr. Linkletter's website.

My wife and I do travel a bit and when the AARP first sent their crap to me I thought we should join not only for the discount at Motels , but because we thought they were a watchdog agency for older Americans.

Boy has my attitude changed.

The AARP decides what issues to bring up and there is no input from members. Its a leftist organisation, but members get absolutely no input.

How old do you have to be to join? I looked around the web site but couldn't find it.

Thank you...I just signed up. I am going to tell my dad about it. He had gotten an AARP letter of Gloom and Doom about the Bush Social Security proposition. I straightened my parents out on this issue but I will ask them today if they want me to sign them up too.

I was savvy to their socialist agenda when they first attacked the 2nd amendment around 10-12 years ago, and have been discarding all their crap mailings or sending back the envelopes empty so they have to pay for the postage.

I might start glueing their postage paid envelopes with bricks attanched soon

You have to be 50. I just got my letter and application in the mail yesterday. I'll be 50 this month.

"I no longer belong to the leftist AARP I can afford to stay in a motel without their discount, and their left wing agenda sucks."

Many places offer senior citizens discounts anyway, without the AARP's assistance.

I've been receiving their propaganda for years now, and it always goes straight to the garbage. Admittedly, at first I was in denial that I was old enough for it, and didn't pay much attention to the organization. Then I started hearing and reading about their liberal agenda, and I wouldn't join it now for FREE motel rooms.

I've always wondered, how did they know how old I am anyway?

I agree with you. However, I have found that if you ask for a Senior discount at a Motel you will frequently be given a discounted rate. AARP takes credit for something that you can successfully negotiate for yourself!

I got my "55" letter from AARP a few days ago and sent the postage-paid envelope right back to them.

Wait . . . why here's the application still sitting on the table. Shucks, I must've forgotten to enclose anything in the envelope. I must be geting old, huh?

;-)

My experience has been between my own negotiations like you speak of and my AAA card, I do better than AARP.

Lot of extra benes with AAA that AARP doesn't even approach but the basic thing is I don't feel like I'm supporting socialism and anti-Americanism.

LOL. Good for you. My husband, who is older than me, dropped his membership to the AARP years ago too.

I was savvy to their socialist agenda when they first attacked the 2nd amendment around 10-12 years ago, and have been discarding all their crap mailings or sending back the envelopes empty so they have to pay for the postage.

The most recent attacks include supporting Bush's program for drug reform, then stabbing him in the back in the election. The social security proposal specifically exempts everyone over 50 (the AARP membership in particular) but they will still argue the left side.

This happend during Forbe's Flat Tax proposal, he exempted interest, dividends, and capital gains from the tax and the AARP should have been pretty supportive since it would have meant their sources of income would not be taxed at the federal level. The AARP jumped in on the democratic side and told the seniors that the flat tax would not be passed the way Forbes had it outlined. And the elderly voted it out. Very bad IMO, as a retiree I would have benefited too. (But if the AARP votes for the democrats, they they can lose power as the democrat positions wind up on the dust bin of history.
