This is a very complicated story. Is the King pro-Red China, or acting out of a fear of Red China? Does he look towards Red China approvingly, or was he made an offer he couldn't refuse? Something just doesn't add up. Could it be that the Maoist insurgency (or hints at removal of the same) is Red China's trump card. Very confusing--TTS

Indeed. Communist rebels must be eliminated from he entire SOuth Asian region. Sadly India is busy dealing with islamic terrorism, so not enough attention has been given to handling Maoism and Naxalism in the region.

You just have to realize that India is ruled by Communists and Nehruvian-Stalinists. Nepal is a small country and it is bound to be insecure, but Nepalis usually don't take any nonsense. When Iraqis killed Nepali hostages, the Nepalis burnt down the mosque at Kathmandu.

There are reports that the Chinese government intimidated the King into doing this, but what of the Maoists? Surely, China is on the side of Maoists. There is no doubt about that.

As for Nepal not trusting India, check out how the Indian government behaved when police surrounded the entire top leadership of the Naxalites (Naxalites are violent Communists who believe in the "revolutionary" way as opposed to the Marxists who are supposedly "peaceful" and stand in elections. Naxalites call themselves Marxist-Leninists or Maoists.)

Cops track down and surround Naxalite leaders, but politicians force them to withdraw.

As you can see, you may have liberal RATS in USA, but at least let us agree that our rats are worse than yours. Ours are sewer rats. I am not surprised that the King of Nepal bypassed India. I hope he doesn't become a stooge of China and I also hope that he cleanses Nepal of Maoists.
