but Peggy's been more wrong than right about President Bush for quite a while now and here simpering prose has been unpalatable for far longer than that. Actually, Peggy has generally been on board with the President. She even took leave of absence from her job on the WSJ to participate in his re-election team, if you'll recall.
And so far as her "simpering prose" is concerned, I've written on this forum that I'm attracted to Peggy's writing because it reminds me of my mother's.
So, smile when you say that, podner.

Yes,I know full well that she took off to help at the Convention;however,do YOU recall what she did there? :-)
Her columns are a mixed bag and have not been well written, consistently, for a while.I take it,that on her GOOD days, she reminds you of the way your mother wrote;okay? Otherwise,I must assume that your mother wrote nasty insults covered in treacle, which I rather doubt she did.

She even took leave of absence from her job on the WSJ to participate in his re-election team, if you'll recall. I've been wondering if perhaps Ms. Noonan, while a sincere supporter of the president, nevertheless wasn't hoping that her show of devotion and sacrifice for his re-election would be her ticket back to presidential speechwriting---which certainly is a better gig than being spit on by Chris Matthews night after night. The old scratch my back back thought that comes quite naturally to everyone in Washington. When she wasn't tapped for greatness in the second term, maybe she got P.O.'d. Could happen.
