"Coulter" wars? Who's fighting Ann Coulter?
I would take issue with Muslims not being scientific. In fact, if I am correct, they lead/paved the way for scientific developments for Europe and the 'Enlightenment' with their mathematics research.
I believe the problems arose later as the muslim societies tried to revert to stay static. So I view ones religion as largely irrelevent to the scientific process. I think it is more of a cultural bias that developed as the non-muslim world went forward with science.
Keep in mind that the Roman Church was not a big fan of science early on, either. Remember Galileo?
It's a reference to her having said in her article the day after 9/11 that we should invade Islamic countries, kill their leaders, and convert their populations to Christianity.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
As far as the slavery is concerned in Khalid's thirteenth objective. I have visted Saudi Arabia and in my opinion they are still practicing slavery. What would you call hiring an indigent Filipino or Pakistani on a five year contract to come to the Kingdom to do the horrible work like road building in 125 degree heat and taking their passports away from them right after they arrive, so that they can't leave?
The more these Imams speak of their religion the more I realize how impossible it is to defend it. I think moderate Muslims are a myth.
Great Article! Bump!
It's all part of the culture of the Arabian Peninsula.
See the Apostle Peter's inquiry about a 'guest wife' for himself while in Rome.
Yes, I know we don't do that anymore, but then we, Christian and most Jews, have been thousands of miles from Arabia for thousands of years.
There are plenty of legitimate reasons to have a Crusade, but this isn't one of them.

This is typical propaganda directed at Islam. Growing up in a fundamentalist church, I saw this type of slant used against every other Christian denomination as well.
Didnt you know that Catholic monks and preists rape nuns? Yeah, that is why they have cloistered convents so the public never knows.
Didnt you know that predestination allows Presbyterians to treat people like cattle and exploit them at every opportunity? Yes, this is allowed because if one can do this to them, it means that God ahs predestined them to such treatment.
Didnt you know that Baptists drink, whore and do all kinds of wicked things? YEah, they do it because they all know that God will forgive them anyway since they have said that they accept Christ as Lord.
None of the above are true, of course, but this is what the propagandist can do by selectively reading a religions texts and ignoring how the vast majority actually practice their faith.
Or lets look at what a Muslim might say about Christianity if they took every Christian kook out there as representative of Christianity.
Didnt you know that Christians practice polygamy? Sure look at the Mormons in Utah in the mid 1800s.
Didnt you know that Christians burn witches at the stake, conduct inquisitions, go on Crusades to spread the faith, marry off little girls, their preists are pedophiles, etc, etc, etc?
The author in this thread has no shame in distorting Islam and venting his hatred of it as he does.
This is not going to win hearts and minds anywhere in the Muslim world; he is doing neither himself nor his religion nor his country any favor by spewing this garbage.
He reminds me of the fundamentalist I once heard that claimed that Tolkien was a Satanist, because the elves in his stories were actually demons and presented in a positive form. When asked to explain how he figures Tolkiens elves were devils, he said that we all know that there are two kinds of beings, humans and devils and since Tolkien admits his elves are not humans that can mean that they must be devils.
This kind of 'logic' is pathetic and laughable, and Kellmeyer seems to have it down pat.
It is amazing that anyone still falls for this kind of idiocy.
Good post and great information.
The RCC was not a big fan of science that diverted from Aristotles model, much as todays secularists are hostile to anything that infers design in nature, thought they repeatedly use terms like 'engineered', 'designed', etc to describe what complexity they do find has evolved in nature.
Also, note that it was the RCC that finally did accept Galileo and in fact promoted his work after finally accepting that Aristotle was wrong.
So can we cut the slander of the RCC as their actions to promote and undo the harm they did cause is centuries old already?
Scary.
