Don't listen to the whiner(s) complaining about this being posted. How can anyone understand what a reject Churchill is if they haven't read any of this?
I read it at the original site yesterday. Churchill complained on the news tonight that he's been misinterpreted, but if you've read this, you know there's no way to misinterprete it. It's absolutely clear. Churchill might as well try to rewrite the Holocaust, casting the Nazis as the good guys!

Ward Churchill (Keetoowah Band Cherokee)

Here is an interesting fact webpage about a Symposium sponsored by the University of Arkansas Native American Student Association hosting the Keetoowah Band Cherokee.

Structure of the UKB

"..In the Keetoowah Band we have 78 tribal members..."

"..Before, and prior to May 1994, we had three categories of membership: honorary, associate, and full fledged members. This has changed; the governing body has changed membership requirements to read: a person must be 1/4 degree of Cherokee Indian ancestry or above to be a member of the United Keetoowah Band. We are talking about a little bit of the past, honorary could have been any nationality of people which the governing body wanted to honor, as an honorary membership. Associates were and still is those persons that are of 1/4 degree of Indian, Cherokee Indian ancestry and that's below that. And our full fledged members are 1/4 and above..."

So Mr. Ward after being inducted into a "tribe" of 78 members gave a speech for the Keetoowahs at no cost to the tribe. Very white of him I must say!

This is an interesting fact. It seem from my previous post Mr. Ward was inducted into the Keetoowah Band Cherokee in 1994, appears at the 1995 Arkansas Symposium and in 1996 the Regents create a Department of Ethnic studies and pick Ward with his shiny new tribal affiliation to Chair it.

Bet the Regents DON'T fire him, especially at the Boulder campus.

It looks to me like Churchill was angling to create a new department - more pay, etc. He's already lost that. Did UC know his tribal affiliation was essentially bogus? That could amount to academic fraud, and that *will* get him kicked out, tenure or no.
