Perhaps it's to draw attention away from the fact that they learned a lot from Nazis. I posted the following as an explanation of the use of the MSM by the left:

"The left learned well from Adolph's and Uncle Joe's mistakes. You don't have to put a gun to anyone's head to get them into a cattle car. Just make them mad by telling a lie about something they know about and care for. Their anger will push them to go wherever the lie points.
Example: Lie - "Bush lied, young men died" Leads to - protesting the liberation of 65 million Iraqis.
Another one: Lie - "Man's pollution causes global warming." Leads to - Supporting treaties that undercut our sovereignty.
This one: Lie - "Dr. Dobson says SpongeBob is queer." Leads to - Half-stepping non-thinking conservatives dumping on Christian Republican Conservatives."

Example: Lie - "Bush lied, young men died" Leads to - protesting the liberation of 65 million Iraqis.

Ummmm... the population of Iraq is about 25 million.
