{ In Force Since: 4 Jan 2004 (cf. Article 162)
} { Official Title: Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan }
{ ICL Document Status: 26 Jan 2004 }
"We the people of Afghanistan:
1. With firm faith in God Almighty and relying on His lawful mercy, and Believing in the Sacred religion of Islam,
"
Within 5 years, the murderous islamic fanatics will again run and ruin the country.
Read the thing,I got $500 on it,donated to FR,you on.
Not necessarily, if the role of Islam in Afghanistan turns out to be more like that of the established Church of England in England.
"Afghanistan is an Islamic Republic, independent, unitary and indivisible state."
That's as far as anyone neds to read. The rest is BS.
So they were better off under the Taliban?
Whad'd ya thnk?,they were gonna photo copy ours. Ha!
Every minister will be Muslim. It's the theocracy that the media is always fretting about, here, in its masonic church/state nonsense. Well - you actually got one. You really have one there - in Afganistan. That's what they wanted.
I didn't say that; you did. But an *islamic state* is not much better; IIRC, sharia law is living hell.
No, I thought after years of brutal suppression and persecution under islam/ taliban, they'd head more for a secular government, rather than extend the islamic caliphate into their homes. They get what wish for...
Mighty big *IF*, ain't it? Judging from what I've learned about islam since 9-11, the odds aren't even close to 50-50. No one with a functioning brain would venture a bet on this, without a huge "point spread".
Karzai seems like a decent fellow, and a secularist. If he is the face of Islam, I'll take him over the Taliban any day. Islam is not going to disappear. It is in our interests for a peaceful, moderate Islam to emerge to counteract the violent, fanatical crazies.
Article 22 [Equality] (1) Any kind of discrimination and privilege between the citizens of Afghanistan are prohibited. (2) The citizens of Afghanistan -- whether man or woman -- have equal rights and duties before the law.

(2) Liberty and dignity of human beings are inviolable. (3) The state has the duty to respect and protect the liberty and dignity of human beings.
Article 25 [Presumption of Innocence] (1) Innocence is the original state. (2) An accused is considered innocent until convicted by a final decision of an authorized court.
Article 29 [Torture] (1) Torture of human beings is prohibited. (2) No person, even with the intention of discovering the truth, can resort to torture or order the torture of another person who may be under prosecution, arrest, or imprisoned, or convicted to punishment. (3) Punishment contrary to human integrity is prohibited.
Thank you.
"...why the hell did we go there..."
I agree 100% with our going in and killing as many of the subhuman taliban muslim garbage as we could, and helping them set up their own government, but time will see evil sharia law come back, incrementally, to Afghanistan. Mark my words, and YES, I'm on for $500, inside of 5 years.

Karzai will be gone all too soon, and what will replace him and his brand of secularism, will be islamism and sharia law.
It's like a warm room going cold, when the heat goes off.
Heh...
Yeah, well, maybe cuz I spent a year there.
So, you're saying *what*, CC?
