A good friend called me a few hours ago terribly upset. Her two sons, both United States Marines, were in Washington DC last night (Saturday) with their dates. They went to the Hawk and Dove, which is a Capitol Hill watering hole.
Now before I go any farther here, understand that I know these two Marines and these are really good kids, hardly the rowdy type -- both went through OCS and are just not the troublemaking types.
At any rate, they were NOT ALLOWED entry into the Hawk and Dove. They were told that the military WAS NOT WELCOME and that especially was true for MARINES.
Is your blood boiling yet???? Mine is. I cannot reveal who these Marines' parents are, but let me tell you, my Freeper brethren, this is a patriotic family who has done much for our nation. (Their mother spends many weekends at Walter Reed with the injured soldiers and even had a house full of them over for Thanksgiving.) I'm telling you, this is an extraordinary family that has given much in service to our country.
So here's the deal. I want this bar to know of our displeasure with their disrespectful behavior toward these two young Marines.
At the very least, I'd like to see a round for these young men on the house and a profuse apology from the owner.
CGF, when someone gives himself the nickname stuck_in_new_orleans it is because that is exactly what he means. He is stuck in a hellhole of a place. It is a LOT worse than DC could ever think about being.
Maybe he's just sour about that.
If I were you I would feel sorry for him. He knows not what he says or does.
- Native New Orleanian who had the sense to move out of that city AND state. :-)
Ummm excuse me.. newbie bud-here is a dime so you can call someone who wants your advice. Okay? Good.
Marines ARE welcome there. There must have been a mix-up if there was an incident.
Interesting. Tommy Boy was a poem by Kipling concerning the bad treatment of the military.

Or, how about, don't call someone who didn't call you?
Ahhh yes, I dont know what Im talking about because of where I live.....very nice. Ummm, can you please give me the list of states that follow the "If its posted online, it MUST be true" - rule?
Thanks
Yeah, I'm the owner and I have nothing better to do.
A couple of other posters have said that Laura Ingraham has talked to one of the Marines and she will discuss it on the air tomorrow.
Do you as well disbelieve those posts?
OK.
simple solution we have the phone number, is somebody in the vicinity? Just call and POLITELY ASK. EMPHASIS ON THE WORD POLITE!
lets be civilized about this.
Semper Fi, Joe. Thank you for your service.
IF it is not true then I will assume the owner will love the chance to clear his/her good name.
ping!
Done. And quite politely. See post #53.
You are such a charmer, "Stuck_in_new_orleans".
I am look forward to your apology. I'm quite sure it will have all the eloquence, intelligence and sincerity displayed in your posts thusfar.
Until then, my dear doubting Thomas, I am done with this little dance with you.
I'm sure more than enough...NYC does stay open later than anyplace else I know of though.
Isn't that the place that a freeper reported that Kerry went the night before the 2005 Inauguration? I am pretty sure I read that last week on here.
Nighty-nite, PS: you stepped on my toes atleast 5 times and your breath reeks of cough syrup.
Sincerely, SINO
