a: The election is already working- because for the first time in thousands of years the people of Iraq are human beings, forming their own destiny.
Guest went on to talk about how he could not travel to a US city to vote but all of his family left in Iraq had gone to the polls today. (He was choking up.) She was trying to move him on, but he wouldn't stop talking until he said words to this effect.
"The sacrifice of the young men and women of the military has not been in vain. Democracy is growing in Iraq like a tree. Their blood is in the soil of a democratic Iraq today."
