Are they? They killed at least two Americans and for now have got away with it. Our soldiers are killed everyday, yet I know of no new major offensives since Fallujah over two months ago. We need to be finding these people and killing them now, not sitting back in a defensive posture.
Didn't you hear the one general state that the assault on Fallujah "broke the back of the insurgency." Don't you see post after post on this site from Centcom about insurgents killed and arrested.
I haven't seen things like body counts and statements that the insurgency was just about broken in about 35 years.
We aren't in a defensive posture AT ALL.
You only assume so because the media isn't handing you the facts. However, CSPAN often shows briefings from the Defense Dept., and from Commanders in country, which I watch. They also issue press releases which are often posted here by ragtimecowgirl and others.
We are forward leaning every minute of every day. The most extensive operation involved our re-establishing a semblance of security in Mosul, and that got some publicity. But we are doing it countrywide, in every sector. We kill many, we capture many and hold for interrogation to get intel, and we are deep in Zarqawi's terror network as well as the Ba'athists. We take out weapons caches 24/7. (Don't expect these diffuse operations to resemble the massive assault on Fallujah where the enemy had massed and dug in over the very large town.)
Also, ours and Iraqi snipers are doing the Lord's work, every day, over and over and over and over and over...
If I know this, you can know this. But it takes some doing, as you will not get this picture while waiting for the media to spoon feed it.
