I drive an old, slow Jeep. I seldom have any place I need to be right away. If My route demands a left turn anytime soon, and I don't nail a spot in the left lane, it is usually impossible to find anyone that will let Me make a lane change. If You tailgate Me, make signs and faces, and blow Your horn, I will slow down even more. I really don't care why You are in a hurry, deal with it, children!

I agree signs and laws do little to help. A law was passed in Texas several years ago and thousands of signs were placed all over the state. I believe Texas is better than Florida with left-lane oblivions, but not by much.

I live in Texas and occasionally drive up to Oklahoma to visit. When I drive back down I-35 I can always tell I'm back in Texas because of the slow-pokes toodling along in the left lane, completely oblivious or indifferent to the flow of traffic. It seems like almost a natural phenomenon that sets in as soon as I cross the Red River. It usually sets in just south of Gainesville and continues through Denton until the road opens up to three lanes, at which point all rules go out the window anyway.
