Black Conservative 'Outraged' by Dems' Attacks on Rice

(CNSNews.com) - Democrats' treatment of Dr. Condoleezza Rice is drawing criticism from black conservatives - and even some black Democrats.

The Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, founder and president of the Brotherhood Organization of A New Destiny, a conservative group, called the Tuesday's attacks "vicious" and outrageous.

"[Democrats'] efforts to block a qualified nominee who would be the first black female Secretary of State is a slap in the face to all black Americans," Peterson said in a statement.

"Throughout the confirmation process, ex-Klansman Senator Robert Byrd, as well as Senators Edward Kennedy, Barbara Boxer, John Kerry, and others have tried to demean Dr. Rice by accusing her of lying and of being incompetent. Republicans have done little to counter this attack," he said.

Peterson has long argued that liberal Democrats are racist toward blacks: "Liberals believe that blacks should all think and vote the same," he said. "And they loathe any free-thinking black who dares to walk off their plantation."

In his statement, Peterson noted that "Sen. Robert Byrd is a former Ku Klux Klan recruiter who has recently used the word 'nigger" twice on national television. Byrd helped filibuster the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and also opposed the nominations of both black candidates for the Supreme Court -- liberal Thurgood Marshall and conservative Clarence Thomas."

BOND, the Brotherhood Organization of A New Destiny, describes its mission as "Rebuilding the Family by Rebuilding the Man." It offers programs and services to help men help their families.

Black Democrats expressing support for Rice included Andrew Young, the former Atlanta mayor, congressman and United Nations ambassador in the Carter administration.

"Condoleeezza Rice not only deserves the support, but the country needs a strong, wise secretary of state with a bipartisan mandate to help establish democracy not only in Iraq but around the world," Young said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Young also suggested that the nation is not well served by having Democrats chip away at Dr. Rice's integrity just as she is about to take her place on the world stage.

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

Finally, someone gets it. Maybe they can start holding press conferences and getting some of the 527 money to support Black Conservatives across America.

It's so much fun to watch the dumb-o-crats destroy themselves.

Their leadership really, really, really sucks.

Maybe ANSWER will send a bundle since one of their stated goals is to stop racism. What! Don't hold my breath?

I wish more blacks would speak up against this clown show taking place on the Senate floor but more than that, when are Republicans going to speak up and defend her against these vicious attacks?

Perhaps the Democrats didn't think this one through. One could honestly conclude that racism is involved when white Democrats (including a former recuiter for the KKK) attack an accomplished black woman of unquestionable competence and integrity.

Byrd opposed Marshall and Thomas. Funny I didn't hear that on ABC, CBS, NBC or CNN.

Andrew Young and many other noted Black Democrats voiced their support for Condi Rice, but not one Black congressman or congresswomen from the Congressional Black Caucus or the NAACP stepped forward to defend Condi from these vicious and slanderous attacks.

Byrd opposed Marshall and Thomas.

Sounds like Byrd is going for a triple.

I don't think they have to do much. Sometimes vindication is achieved through silence. Besides, Boxer (D-Al-Queda), Kennedy (D-Al-Queda), and others are imploding before the world for all to see.

Just once, I would like to see this on the networks. Well, I guess I won't because I don't watch them.

Byrd was a member of the KKK. The Democrats have not really helped blacks. They talk about helping blacks but never seem to deliver.

No, being silent is the worst that the GOP can do. They should come out with guns and arrows. Why should we let a minority and discredited party do this to Dr. Rice? No, they should fight fire with fire. Bill Frist has no backbone, he should be removed from Majority Leader; Mitch McConnell or Richard Shelby should take over. We need a bomb thrower like Newt Gingrich to put Boxer, Kerry, and even Bayh in their place. They are doing the same thing to Alberto Gonzalez. Bush should also raise his voice; he needs to do something to protect his nominees otherwise why would anyone risk being insulted by the Dems. ENough is enough!

Anti-Americanism can be easily added to Boxer/Byrd et al along with partison racism. This is pretty disgusting to watch unfold. They're treating Dr. Rice like she just fell out of a tree stealing apples!
