Let us not rest until Arizona's voter laws are the law of the land.

Good news is little to no political ads for 2008 elections.
Arizona is now unreachable for the dummies.

Now we need to purge the voter rolls so that EVERYBODY needs to register.
[I wonder if dead people are still citizens?] Actually, while Governor Napolitano fights this measure, as a good Democrat, I don't have the sense that there is widespread organized fraud. My perception is from Phoenix. Tucson may be different.

Any takers on when a judge will overturn this?

This is more significant than everyone thinks. In 2003 the Dem Governor vetoed a law requiring Photo ID at the polling place claiming it placed an unfair burden on poor minorities.
Several other Dem Govenors were successful in eliminating the photo ID requirement in their states. Hopefully this citizen activism catches on like wildfire.

They argued the changes will erect barriers that will hinder minorities' participation in elections and hamper grassroots voter registration drives. Yes, it will hamper the registration of illegal voters.

Citizenship, age and residency are the requirements for voting. All three proofs should be produced when you register for the first time. A National card should be issued which is good for life. Local residency laws etc will take care of the rest.
Of course, it will create a new forgery market.

the people who don't vote legally will just forge documents.
To: kattracks
photo ID should be required in every state to vote, and one day it will be.

A civil-rights group and Democratic legislators recently had urged the Department of Justice to reject the law. They argued the changes will erect barriers that will hinder minorities' participation in elections and hamper grassroots voter registration drives. This came right out of Argumentation for Dummies.
The law also erect barriers to the careless and the indifferent, (and, minor point, the fraudulent) who "lose" their documentation. Tough noogies.
Imagine using that excuse to argue that I can't prove I paid 2001 Federal taxes because I "lost" my tax return.

Of course, they better convince me that they neither smoke, drink, have cable TV or use fast food, since then it no longer is a matter of "unfair burden" but more a matter of lifestyle "choice". I am Pro-Choice.
