The co-author of the Swift Boat veterans' book that attacked Sen. John F. Kerry [related, bio] plans to move to the Bay State this year so he can challenge Kerry for his Senate seat in 2008.

``I'm going to do it,'' said Jerome Corsi, 58. ``I've got serious political aspirations now.''

Corsi, who has had to apologize for inflammatory comments he made about Islam, the pope and Judaism, lives in New Jersey but plans to establish residency in Boston this spring.

Though not a veteran himself, Corsi co-authored ``Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry

Kerry spokesman David Wade declined comment on Corsi, saying Kerry is focused on his Senate work. But state Democratic chairman Phil Johnston said, ``I know Massachusetts will not welcome a candidate whose calling card is a disturbing track record of slandering Catholics, the pope, Jews and Vietnam veterans. Carpetbaggers spreading lies and smears are not welcome in our state.''

Johnston was referring to comments Corsi posted in the past few years on FreeRepublic.com. In the posts, Corsi called Islam ``a cancer that destroys the body it infects,'' called the pope ``senile,'' and referred to Kerry as ``John (expletive) Commie Kerry.''

Corsi said the comments ``were not meant as serious expressions of my views and opinions,'' but ``meant to be satirical and provocative . . . It's like saying Shakespeare is responsible for something one of his characters said.''

Run, Jerry, Run.

I know what you're saying. Anybody but Kerry. But this move to MA just to run against Kerry makes his book now look more like a personal vendetta.
That isn't going to play out well politically.

Oh, I dunno. I don't think he'll win. But his candidacy is MUCH preferable to Kerry running unopposed, or worse, opposed only by that laughingstock meatball Jack E. Robinson.

At least this way, it will continue to take the sheen off Kerry's "war hero" image. And it will make Kerry testy, which never shows him off well.

Kerry may win, but he'll know he's been in a fight. And it will show.

"...that laughingstock meatball Jack E. Robinson. "

Yeah I'm just wondering, hoping and praying that we get a real candidate, not an import. And yes, that wife-beater, girl-friend beater or whatever he is Robinson sure won't cut it.

But remember how hard the dems fought to keep Robinson off the ballot? Their apparent underlying fear of his candidacy really surprised me.
So, I think they feel Kerry is vulnerable, but not to forget where I/we live.

An educated black conservative with integrity would be just right, if you ask me. Got one?

Uh, he didn't post under a screen name? Mr. Corsi, if you're reading this--while I don't at all differ with your views, in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you can get fired for saying such things openly. Good luck. And thanks for "Unfit for Command." You and John O'Neill did the country a great service.

probably referenced Kerry's actual heritage/name (Kohn)...and probably not as a denigration of the Jewish heritage, but to the fact that Kerry has spent all these years hiding it.

Bill Cosby, Shelburne Falls.

maybe not a conservative, but a better rep than sKerry. If we can't find a decent republican, we should convince Cosby to run as an independent.
