Overruling nearly every other jurist who's heard the case, a federal judge in Connecticut has stayed tomorrow morning's scheduled execution of mass murderer Michael Ross."Having listened to the witness, there is no doubt in my mind that we have a genuine issue here," said Judge Robert Chatigny. He stopped the execution pending a full competency hearing.
The witness referred to is Dr. Stuart Grassian, a former Harvard psychiatrist, who has never examined Ross, but based solely on his jailhouse letters has decided that the killer isn't competent to decide his own fate.
"There is something clearly wrong with the man," said Grassian.
There certainly is: Over a period of three years, two decades ago, Ross brutally raped and murdered eight girls six of them teenagers.
Now he has chosen to abandon further appeals to his death sentence.
There's no doubt about Ross' guilt he freely confessed to the murders. But the anti-capital-punishment crowd wants to spare him, though just why isn't clear.

The U.S. Court of Appeals, which today will hear an emergency appeal of Judge Chatigny's decision, needs to vacate the order straight away.
Twenty years is long enough.

Denny Crane: "I look to two things. First to God and then to Fox News."
Yeah, let's give this bastard every chance we've got, but hurry up and get started on starving the disabled woman in Florida. Things are really messed up.
Hey ...keeping all these killers on death row at taxpayer expense should not be a problem. Some liberal whack job judge is probably tortured inside and conflicted on what to do.....You must understand the rights of society to demand protection for its citizens is out of style and not politically correct anymore.

Who do you think this guy voted for?
Technically a serial killer.
And as long as we are willing to tolerate this kind of behavior on the bench, it will continue.
Or suck out the brain of a defenseless baby.
People have things upside down and backwards.
