NEWSWEEK: Two Related Companies In The Oil-for-Food Business are Believed to Have Handled as Much as $4 Billion in Deals, Reselling Some Crude to Big U.S. Refiners Like Exxonmobil, Says Investigator Sunday January 16, 10:22 am ET
# NEW YORK, Jan. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Investigative officials in New York and Europe are looking closely at the dealings of numerous companies and individuals involved in the Oil-for-Food business in an attempt to learn who may have helped Saddam Hussein's regime beat U.N. sanctions. Newsweek reports in the January 24 issue (on newsstands Monday, January 17) that one businessman under scrutiny is Ben Pollner, a U.S. trader based in Switzerland.
Law-enforcement sources say he emphatically denied any wrongdoing when questioned by representatives from the office of Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau last year in New York, reports Investigative Correspondent Mark Hosenball. No charges have been filed against Pollner or his firms. Still, a glimpse into his transactions may offer some sense of the convoluted nature of the trade, according to Newsweek. A top European investigator says two Pollner companies in Geneva are believed to have handled as much as $4 billion in Oil-for-Food deals, reselling some crude to big U.S. refiners like ExxonMobil.

Oil For Food shenanigans...
Thanks. Lord O Mercy, the slime just keeps dripping.
I wonder what if any relationship there might be between Pollner, Marc Rich, and the Clintons--something about this smells very Clintonish...
Reeks. Simply reeks. Which is one of several reasons the Jackal Pack Press is treadly so lightly over all this corruption.
Dec. 2 - The revelation that Kojo Annan continued to receive payments from Cotecna finally brought the U.N. Oil-for-Food scandal under the scrutiny of the mainstream media, and now that they're digging, they are finding things that have been known in the blogosophere for a while but seem new to them, including the involvement of some well known and well-connected Americans and companies which were named in the Duelfer Report: Marc Rich, Ben Pollner of Taurus Oil, ChevronTexaco, and ExxonMobil.
Pollner and Rich have worked together before.
The investigation continues, and like the King Buffalo said, "Let the chips fall where they may."
Missed that one- thanks!
Europeans? If Eurinals are investigating, it is only to shred documents that might lead to the French and to leave/manufacture the ones that point to non-Clintonian Americans. Maybe, that is why Willie's lieberry will not release the names of the BIG comtributors; maybe, most of the cash came from Saddam through Marc Rich like middle-men. Alas, the media is interested only in Republicans who might be dirty on this and will NEVER investigate or publish anything about Willie.
I haven noticed Claudia all over TV this weekend, pushing this story.
Pollner donated $2,000 to Kerry's campaign. Naturally.
I wonder how does giving $2000.00 make one a major donor ?
