I'm don't like the Nazi, but those SS uniforms stand out, even by today's standards. That was the point. They wanted to stand out and intimidate, just like the Hell's Angel types do today.

Due to Hitler's use of it, it has been PC-ed into an evil sign.

The Hindus had used it (swatiska) a long, long time before The Buddhists did as well, probably got it from the Hindus. Many jewelry stores in South Korea sold swatiska pendants.
However, there is a caveat to this, Hitler's incarnation of the swatiska is a reverse of the Hindu/Buddhist version.

I went as fully dressed Nazi on Halloween in eighth grade. Dad was in Germany just after the war and had a bunch of war memorabilia.
I thought it was unique and historical. Teachers and the administration did not share the same view, and made me remove everything with a Swastika after I was called to the office in 3rd hour.
Sorry Harry, my costume was way cooler.
