Before I learned to repair my own computers I had occasion to call a few (Dell) customer service reps based in India. While they never came close to solving my problems and wasted way too much time on the repair checklist they were always polite and thorough and tried hard. When they couldn't help they switched me to a Dell tech in this country and the problem was usually solved in five minutes.

Speaking of Dell...
I've had the dubious pleasure of dealing with some of their offshore technical slurpport staff, and almost without exception, their solution to every problem was "You will need to reinstall Windows", to which I always responded "I don't think so", which illicited the predictable "what you say?"
Hah-Hah-Hah. All your call centre belong to us.
But I don't endorse making Indian girls cry. They have enough to cry about, they don't need anybody adding to their burdens.

I called support and got an Indian who walked me through the system until it was fixed and left me with a considerably better understanding of it. I have also talked to American techs in America who probably just got the phone job right after they were fired from Burger King.

Oh boy..... been there done that too. Sometimes the English was so bad I had to hang up as I could not understand ONE single word.
And I also got sick and tired of...
- Turn off your computer
- Disconnect the power cord (or monitor) from the back of the computer.
- Unplug the cord from the power outlet
- Wait 20 seconds then reconnect all the cords and turn your computer back on.. and then;
- Does the problem still exist?
OR......
- Click, "Start, Run and then type "msconfig"
- Click "startup"
- "Uncheck everything"
- Re-boot your computer
- "There, did that solve the problem?"
NO you *&^%^*, this DELL is a piece of JUNK! (hangup)
