TG I agree with you. MS is a predatory monopolist that has impeded computer systems development for years. In the process they enriched themselves enormously and exposed their customers to operational and financial risks, risks that they have somehow avoided liability for.

ANY other purveyor of such seriously flawed products would have been sued into oblivion long since but MS's financial and lobbying clout protected them from such liability as well as permitting them to ruthlessly squash any potential competitors. This stranglehold is now easing - Hence the MS "Solutions" being offered. THAT is the only reason they are doing anything about these long standing problems.

I agree 100% with the proposition that Microsoft needs to be taken the mat, and be held accountable for putting its customers at risk through willful negligence. Any other company would have faced mountains of consumer litigation before now.
