These are excellent photos, Karl. Thank you for posting them and for the ping.

One thought comes to mind. In some parts of the country there is the oft repeated rumor that when the "large" quake occurs on the San Andreas Fault, California will break off into the ocean.

Maybe there is some truth to the rumor after all, only with the change that California will break off in bits and pieces.
