Seven Tsunami Videos

Posted on 12/30/2004 11:18:05 AM PST by Ambient

I know this was posted yesterday but all the links were either broken or the website so bogged down that I couldn't view any of the videos posted. I found a site that has seven tsunami videos and posting it here for the people that missed it yesterday. Plus I think there is a few videos here that were not posted yesterday.

Apple and Bandwidth I hosted these videos on my .Mac account, after 400,000 visits, Apple decided that they had used too much bandwidth and removed the videos. I (and many others) believe this is a valuable public service. What is the problem? Apple can put up a nice home page but they won't allow bandwidth for these videos to be shared. Make yourself heard: Write to these addresses at Apple about providing bandwidth: .Mac feedback Steve Jobs Feedback PR Brian Mintun (The guy who emailed me initially) Post on the AAPL Yahoo Messageboard

Thought I would try setting up a thread for the posting of pics and videos of the killer tital waves and the aftermath. Add them here and we may end up with a pic/video collection in one place.http://www.dagbladet.no/nyheter/20 Click on these words when you get to the link (site not in English). Dermed kan du selv se hvor sterke vannmassene var da den andre bølgen kom.

Server says: Too many connections.

I've heard of the Slashdot effect, so this must be the Freeper effect.

Thanks for the link. There were several I hadn't seen yet.

I've bookmarked the site. Looks like they have a bunch of other videos I need to look at.

All the clips we're seeing are from Thailand or Sri Lanka, but we know the worst of it went to Aceh which was 100 miles from the epicenter. The firt video is purportedly from Aceh, and it seems like receding water is at the height of the roofs.

Some of the Aerial shots of the West Sumatran coast (CNN has some, they don't show them for long) show a few hills where, based on how high the trees are stripped bare from the ground, look like the water may have been 50-80 feet high.

The aerial shots are somewhat deceptive, too.

If you look closely at many of the buildings being hit in the initial waves, many of those buildings are actually 2 and 3 story buildings. And waves are whitecapping higher than the palm trees.
