Apparently, I fit well into my county (Hillsborough, FL). 50-80% of us call all carbonated drinks "Coke."

I grew up in Texas and always called it "coke". After 15 years of marriage to a man whose family is from St. Louis, it is now "soda". My kids all say "soda", too.

Cute post for the Christmas week.

"Must be the "other" category."

I don't care where you are, try going into a gneneral store and asking for an "other". If you thought they looked at you strange when you asked for a "pop", just wait... ;-)

In South Georgia it is Coke although I have heard people say soda. I don't think I have ever heard pop except on tv.

I prefer the term "Carbonated Soft Drink" or "Effervescent Beverage". Those really roll off the tongue.

The correct term is 'coke,' not to be confused with 'Coke,' which is a particular type of coke.

Born in the midwest, transplanted in the south and am a "pop" person. Most people where I live in the south think my use of the term is strange but old habits die hard. Kind of like crick for creek, ruff for roof and you guys instead of you all.

My granddaddy always called it a "dope". Must be one of those "others" -

He was born and raised in Augusta GA. I see there's a green "other" county just west of there . . . < g >

Just remember, we taxpayers paid Matthew T. Campbell good money to research this burning issue.

We need a national referendum on this; come up with one common name. We cannot allow this divisiveness to continue to split the nation. Our legislators need to draw up a bill and get is passed ASAP.

We can no long allow ourselves to be three Americas. We have to come together.

The pop Nation.
The soda Nation.
The coke Nation.

Oh the inhumanity. Let us unite and cease this infighting that is destroying our Nation.
