(CNSNews.com) - The Department of Homeland Security is unfairly targeting Muslims, an Islamic civil rights group says, and on Monday, the group will host an "emergency town hall meeting" to discuss the situation.
The Los Angeles chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations has invited speakers from the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, FBI, and Justice Department to address the gathering.
Local attorneys and relatives of people detained by immigration authorities also will speak.
According to CAIR-LA, over the last few months, several Muslim religious leaders in California have been detained on minor immigration infractions and have been denied bail. According to their attorneys, the detained individuals have been in the country legally and have filed all necessary documents to maintain their status.
Dozens of harassment complaints also have been filed by American Muslim travelers. CAIR-LA said the incidents include being unable to remove their names from the 'No Fly List,' repeated stops and interrogations at airports, exclusion from entry to the United States, and revocation of visas for no stated reason.
"While we are all in full support of securing our nation and its borders, we believe the selective application of the law only reinforces the widespread perception that government officials are targeting Islam and Muslims," said Sabiha Khan, communications director CAIR-LA.
The Monday evening meeting in southern California is being organized by the following groups: CAIR-LA; The Southern California Civil Rights Coalition (CRC); Islamic Shura Council of Southern California;Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC); Free Imam Wagdy Committee (FIWC); Airman Halabi Justice Committee (AHJC); National Lawyers Guild (NLG); League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) - Orange County Chapter; Los Amigos of Orange County; Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA); and South Asian Network (SAN).

AND IT'S ABOUT BLOODY TIME!, John O says
When they are kidnapped and beheaded then maybe I'll care.
Brilliant. Would you perhaps have the verses from the Koran or hadith that state this? I'd love to be able to throw this around a bit. (like constantly, or on leaflets at the nearest mosque)
That is because moslems are targeting Americans. QED
so what?
Oxymoron.
I do not have the specific Suras at my fingertips, but let me see what I can find and get back to you a little later.
Release the dogs of war.

Gee, maybe instead of hosting town hall meetings, they should work to root out the killers among their religion...
"Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth."
"One of the challenges is understanding the totality of Islam. Don't come up with an opinion and find out the things that support it in Islam. Everything we need to know is in the Koran. We don't need to look somewhere else."
Omar M. Ahmad, chairman of the board of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), San Ramon Valley Herald July 4, 1998
CAIR: Organizer of holy warriors
Since 9-11, CAIR, a spin-off of the Islamic Association For Palestine, has seen three of its former employees indicted on federal terrorism charges.
Randall Todd "Ismail" Royer was sentenced to 20 years in prison on charges he trained in Virginia for holy war against the United States and sent several members to Pakistan to join Lashkar-e-Taiba, a Kashmiri terrorist group with reported ties to al-Qaida.
In a plea bargain, Royer claimed he never intended to hurt anyone but admitted he organized the holy warriors after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the U.S.
After his arrest, Royer sought legal counsel from Hamas lawyer Stanley Cohen, who said after 9-11 he would consider serving as a defense lawyer for Osama bin Laden if the al-Qaida leader were captured.
Another CAIR figure, Bassem Khafagi, was arrested in January 2003 while serving as the group's director of community relations. The previous December, Ghassan Elashi, the founder of CAIR's Texas chapter, was indicted for financial ties to Hamas leader Musa Abu Marzook.
Current CAIR leaders also have made statements in support of Hamas and the domination of the U.S. by Islam.
This is a really good idea, if you add that the planes with the muslims will all fly one way to Syria.
That's exactly what I thought! If it is so bad here in the US, then go back to the promised land of Saudi Arabia, Syria, Palestine, Iran -- pick one!!
Yeah and tuck a muslim under each arm when you go.
