Married adults live well and are merry

Married adults are more likely to be healthier — physically and mentally — than divorced, widowed, cohabiting or never-married adults, a new federal report says.
Regardless of age, sex, race, education, income or nationality, married adults were least likely to be in poor health, suffer serious psychological distress and smoke or drink heavily, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) says in its new report, which reviews health data gathered from more than 127,000 adults from 1999 to 2002.

The only category in which married adults fared poorly was weight — and this was primarily because married men were more likely to be heavier than other men, the study says.
"[Husbands] are well-fed. But they don't smoke," said Charlotte Schoenborn, a researcher at the NCHS' Division of Health Interview Statistics and author of the report.
The report doesn't speculate on why married adults are in better health. However, many researchers say that marriage has a "protective" effect.
"Wives are especially good at what social scientists call 'social support' and ordinary people call 'nagging,' " said columnist Maggie Gallagher, who heads the District-based Institute for Marriage and Public Policy.

Do you know why single men are skinny and married men are heavy?

The single man goes to the fridge, doesn't see anything good, so he goes to bed.

Here is a tip for you: if you marry someone who you love, and excites you when you are young, the person you married will still excite you when you are old.

The Bible mentions this, sorry I can't remember the verse, something like "cleave to the wife you have when you are young."

It's true that when you are "middle aged crazy" you may not be turned on by your spouse -- this advice works for young people and old people, but middle aged people are a different world.

If you want to be one of those people who still loves the person you married even when you are old -- marry young, marry someone you love, marry someone who turns you on. And stick with it, and never stray.

AHEM! What to say? Let's cut through the Bull. If you had a good relationship with Mom, your odds of having a happy marriage are pretty good.

If, OTOH, your Mom was an abusive paranoid psychotic, you're better off in the priesthood....because you will somehow keep finding...."the old model".

Yes, there are some who break this pattern. But they are the exception.

As for me, let me try to pen something (semi)original:

'A man needs a woman like the condemned need a noose'....

Not very optimistic, just realistic. If you become aware of your limitations early enough, and get a control over your hormones, you might turn out alright. If not, you're scr....well, YOU KNOW...

True love keeps you looking both younger and happier. People in love feel good being around each other. So being married beats staying single.

I think its more because their wives love them and make sure they take care of themselves. Men are more likely to pay attention to their appearance and their health to make the woman they love happy.

If you were friends when you first married, you will always be friends.

I must be an "outlier" from a statistical sense.

Let me not to the marriage of true minds admit impediments... love is not love which alters when it alteration finds.
