Christopher "C.J." Fraleigh, general manager of the Buick and Pontiac-GMC division of General Motors Corp., is leaving the automaker at the end of the year, GM said.
Fraleigh will join Sara Lee, a GM spokesman said, as a senior vice president for sales and marketing. His departure was announced Tuesday internally.
He joined GM in January 2001 at the age of 37 as executive director of corporate advertising and marketing from Pepsi-Cola Co., where he had been a vice president of marketing of colas.
Fraleigh, 41, gave no public indication of his decision two weeks ago at a GM press event, telling AdAge.com he was enjoying his job, which he's had since February. Fraleigh had been executive director of corporate advertising and marketing for GM.
He could not be reached for comment.
The GM spokeswoman said there's no word on his successor.
Hrmmmmph, as good as he was for GM, I feel sorry for Sara Lee.
Cola, Cars, Cake...it's all about moving product.
Sara Lee doesnt even make anything anymore...they just license people like ConAgra to make it.
Bet the engineers at GM were real happy to have him as their new boss.
There is going to be a lot of white collar layoffs in the new year at GM.....up to 10,000.
