Easy - the sickness followed a banquet which is why many thought it was poisoned food. They just looked at the menu being served.

I still don't think the Russians tried to assassinate Yushchenko because using dioxin to kill is too clumsy and easily detectable.

The Russians would not poison with something any first year bio-chemist would find.

For example the rat poison warfarin (a blood thinner) is almost undetectable and some say it was used to bump off Stalin and make it look like a stroke.

It would seem unlikely that Russia would be so clumsy in using such an easily detectable chemical to kill Viktor Yushchenko.

Look, the suspects in the crime are either A) elements of the Russian government or B) elements of the Ukranian government which the government of Russia clearly supports in the face of massive vote fraud on their part. Either way, the same kind of people are scared of Yushchenko for some reason.

A rogue amateur element for sure if deliberate poisoning.

So then, where did the dioxin come from?

The speculation, as I heard it few days ago, was that it was at a "state dinner" with a Russian diplomat that Yuschenko was poisoned, it is believed. I didn't hear all the details of the meeting or who it was with. Just that it was a Russian diplomat who hosted the dinner.

Like I said above I find it hard to buy that the Russians would poison with something any first year bio-chemist would find.

For example the rat poison warfarin (a blood thinner) is almost undetectable and some say it was used to bump off Stalin and make it look like a stroke.

It would seem unlikely that Russia would be so clumsy in hosting a dinner and then at that dinner use such an easily detectable chemical to kill its guest Viktor Yushchenko.

Okay. It appears you're convinced that Yanukovych and Putin are clean.

The Russians/Soviets have a history of poisoning their opponents and KGB boy Putin actively campaigned for Yanukovych, that is undisputed. Have you another theory as to Yushchenko's illness?

PS: The reason dioxin was not detected until now was that Yushchenko refused a biopsy. The sample would have been taken from his face and he did not want to do it for cosmetic reasons (stitches and bandaid cover on face) That also is a little odd seeing as how he had little to protect cosmeticaly speaking because of the rash.

I agree 100% In fact did not the Russians kill al-Qaeda's hero Khattab through the use of a poison letter?

But to use dioxin to kill is frankly insane. As a tool of assasination it is not only easily detectable in the body (assumtion being that the killers want to leave no trace), and requires a heavy dose (you want to kill with small doses) and death is not even assured (unless you swallow maybe a gallon).

I understand why the Russians are suspects but would you use this chemical to kill if you have the poison arsenal the Russians have?

Please, you didn't answer the question. Where did the dioxin come from if not the Russians and Yanukovych?

Your post #131 contradicts your post #126. Do you know why?

They are probably referring to Digitalis

Digitalis (DIJ'ih-TAL'is) is also known as digoxin (di-JOKS'in) and digitoxin (dij"ih-TOKS'in). It's a drug that strengthens the contraction of the heart muscle, slows the heart rate and helps eliminate fluid from body tissues. It's often used to treat congestive heart failure and is also used to treat certain arrhythmias (ah-RITH'me-ahz).

Digitalis has been described in medical literature for over 200 years. It's derived from the foxglove plant.

Dioxin in the amounts the news is saying he had would not be found normally in the environment.

Arsenic is also found naturally in the enviornment - appleseeds for example will kill you if you digest enough.

So it would have to be an extreme natural situation.

After hearing Oliver North just now on FOX News, it appears that regardless of WHO did the dioxin poisoning, that Yushchenko will likely see an early end to his life.

He will likely die of cancer or something because of this. Diabetes is another possible outcome.

Deadly doses of Dioxin would be a big amount is what I heard.

So what we have is that it was likely Barney Fife tried to pull this off.

Yes. So he ingested an unnaturally high concentration of dioxin at a Russian hosted dinner. These are the same Russians who openly and desperately wanted Yushchenko to lose.

I can think of no other conclusion to want happened than the obvious one. Neither can you.

Dig toxicity can indeed kill you. Heart rhythm disturbances are common.

It looks like Yuschenko was very lucky.

I liked his Barney Fife analogy as well.

Does that mean you are accepting of the fact that if this was an attempt on his like that it was at least not done by the Russians who are anything but Fife like when it comes to killing people with poisons?
