President Bush withheld support for embattled U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan yesterday and demanded the world body produce a "full and fair" accounting of the Iraq oil-for-food scandal. The United States broke with other nations on the U.N. Security Council, including Britain, Russia, France, Germany and China, which announced their support for Annan.

Meanwhile, in Albany, the Republican-led state Senate dealt a severe blow to a U.N. plan to build a 35-story building on nearby parkland, tabling a bill that would have started the process.
The United Nations "has evolved into an anti-Israel, anti-Semitic group of petty, sniping bigots who are pursuing an anti-freedom, anti-democratic, anti-American agenda," said state Sen. Serphin Maltese, a conservative Republican from Queens.
"To authorize an expansion of their headquarters would be a slap in the face of American citizens."
Meanwhile, GOP Reps. Vito Fossella, Peter King, and Sue Kelly called a press conference in front of U.N. headquarters, endorsing legislation calling for cutting 10 percent of U.S. funding for the United Nations unless it cooperates with investigators probing the oil-for-food scandal.

Move it to the Muslim quarter of France.
Kattracks, I just love your threads! You have some awesome stories!
And to add....YIPEE!!! The UN deserves no more space or place than we've already given them. And quite frankly, they ought to move the UN on over to France, where they would be a little more at home.
God Bless you State Senator Serphin Maltese from Queens...No expansion allowed!!!..In fact, close them down and ship their butts to Paris....ADIEU!, ADIEU!, ADIEU!
when U.N. asked the city of Ny to give up to 5 billion for restoration and administration xpenses for its staff and building and a proposed xpansion people got pizzzzt.
Ooh yes it would. A great start anyway.
Ha ha ha Mike Savage is such a blowhard
Go getem G.W.B
Honourable Senator Maltese,
I would like to take a moment to thank you for your statements regarding the horrid corruption at the United Nations.
Many Americans, myself and just about EVERYONE I know feel that the UN is just as you described it. Anti-American, Anti-Semetic with a propensity to support tyranny and terrorism over freedom and peace.
They have become anathema in the eyes of many people who love the freedom and liberty we enjoy in this great nation.
It is appalling that we should continue to subsidize what is essentially an international "den of thieves".
Well Sir, thank you for saying what so many of us think.
All the best to you and good luck,
Caipirabob, Florida (Yep, word gets around...)
I am hard-pressed to think of a single institution more worthy of contempt- or perhaps a neutron warhead- than the Despot-Enablers of Turtle Bay.
Planned Parenthood and the United Way have their histories of bloody hands and corruption, but the sheer scope and audacity of the UN places it in a class of its own.
My 2¢'s about the UN?
Neal Boortz has the right idea- kick them off US soil, plop them down in Haiti, and tell them, "when you get this straightened out, give us a call..."
Moreover:
--Sex abuse charges rock UN in Congo-
-- Interesting this is being posted today. Talk show host Dennis Prager had the Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Doree Gold, on his show today. Mr. Gold has just written a book about the UN called the Tower of Babble(i think this was the title). Some of the things he was saying about the UN were unbelievable.
--TV campaign urging: Kick U.N. out of U.S.-
"I say we just give the entire country of Haiti to the UN."--or move them to Zimbabwe or another country in Africa. Let them see what the really do for the world.
--UN knew of Saddam's oil-for-food thefts: BBC-
The sooner we resign from this corrupt organization and kick them off our soil, the better.

Good on you mate.

"It's very important for the United Nations to understand that there ought to be a full and fair and open accounting of the oil for-food program," Bush said at the White House . "In order for the taxpayers of the United States to feel comfortable about supporting the United Nations, there has to be an open accounting."
President Bush
Gee--there doesn't seem to be much ambiguity there. Are you listening UN clowns?
ooooooo even the Rep. lady from Albany NY has the brass ones!
Agree, Kattracks always has great threads. very informative. a must read at FR.
I think I just found my frontrunner to be on the 2008 Presidential ticket. :-)
I saw and heard him make these remarks - the look in his eyes was priceless.
Sen. Maltese is no shrinking violet. He's the Republican in NY state that says things the other Repubs here in NY might believe but are afraid to say because it might offend some fruitcake at the NY Times. His district is about 5 minutes from me in Middle Village, Queens. Ex-military-Ex-prosecutor-stand-up guy.
I just caught a few minutes of Tom Oliphant shilling for Kofi Annan on Imus. Oliphant was asserting that he had seen nothing so far that made him think Annan or the UN had been up to no good. Well, all I can think is that it must be kinda hard for Oliphant to see anything with those hands over his eyes, or hear anything with those fingers jammed in his ears. And BTW, Oliphant, if there's nothing to hide over at the UN, why in heck is the UN obstructing the investigation? Inquiring minds, which excludes yours apparently, want to know.
