Is smoking allowed at the Ball?

Smoking will only be allowed in the hotel bar ( a very short walk from the Ball area) and outside the hotel.

I commend the DC Chapter of FR for all of their hard work in putting this together and we look forward to attending. But this caving in to the politically correct mantra is very disturbing.

We have a 3-4 hour drive to get to DC and will not be indulging much in the line of adult beverages because of the return 3-4 hour drive. For this reason 5 hours without a smoke is no big deal to me - but for others the idea may not appeal....having to go outside in the middle of winter in DC is not pleasant - nor is the idea of having to go to a bar not covered by the open bar policy of the function one has paid for.

I would hope a different policy on this could be found.

Actually, there is no need to go outside or be apart from the action to smoke. The hotel bar is on the same floor as the ballroom. It is a short, as in a matter of seconds, walk from there.

The bar has a very nice lounge. You'll love it and you won't feel put out. You'll see me in there from time to time.

Or, folks can step outside if they want. But no one will be forced to do that.
