But political 'speech' IS protected.

Otherwise 99% of the pols running would be in jail!

Are you trying to tell me that lying about your opponent in a campaign is not 'protected speech'?

Seemed to work real well for Kerry!

Not to mention most liberals that are STILL lying!

Just playing devil's advocate here . . . isn't that a risk that anyone who gets involved with politics takes?

Absolutely. And it's all the more reason why we supporters need to cover his back.

Why is that?

This will be my last post to you. I suggest you reflect on what is meaningful to you and what you expect to get out of your life. It's very short and passing.

LOL Not sure whether to take that as a threat or if I have climbed the mountain and receiving philosophy from a guru. : )

I believe I have brought up a very valid point, and it seems as others on here agree with the point I made.

I saw Gardner on H&C - he asked the management if they were Democrats or not, and they said yes.

Let's see, the president of a company that provides services to insurance companies does dirty work for Kerry/DNC ?

Here's an email address for Millennium Information Services, Inc.

Perhaps we should cc: the CEO's of each of the major insurance companies on those emails.

"This may be true. However, shouldn't he have known the risk of losing his job when he began his activism?"

Compare it to same kind of risk our troops take when they enlist to fight for our country.

Some people have the 'right stuff' and they put their country first!

I started out to donate 20 bucks to a great American, Steve Gardner, but after reading some of the posts of people who seem to think he deserves nothing, it has increased to 50 and may go higher the more I read.

Aside to Mr. Gardner; I also served, '66-'67, full 12 months in country, not as a Swift Vet. You are really a true American hero in my eyes. I always said America would never in a thousand years elect as their President "someone who had betrayed his country". I was gladly proven right.

Oh, I can agree with that. I think Gardner did a very good thing. However, just as a Marine knows there is a chance of losing his life, a political activist knows there is a chance of losing his job. (Okay, so the two can't be equated, but there is an analogy to be drawn there.)

I suggest you do the same, Vision.

I reflected on what's meaningful to me and came up with small children with incurable diseases. You, apparently, are choosing some healthy guy who chose to do what he did and is now facing the consequences. A healthy guy with a healthy family who's a successful salesman in a heavily conservative region.

Who needs assistance more - Children's hospitals who are trying to bring a shred of happiness to children without glowing futures or this guy? I suggest you vist your local child hospital's burn ward before getting back to me about taking care of guys like this.

Who are you to tell people where to send their own money? Money that they earned by the sweat of their brows.

What is your moral authority to pass judgement on Mr. Gardner's worthiness as a recepient?

So much for freedom of speech and expression eh?

Especially when it doesn't interfere with your occupation.

We take care of our own. It's the right thing to do.

It's sad how some want to enjoy the fruits of Gardner's efforts, and at the same time want to leave him and his family twisting in the wind during Christmastime, now that the election is over.

Fork over a couple bucks to the man.

"A lot of people on here have been giving Gardner credit for beating Kerry"

The point is, Gardner is the one who needs fianacial help. All the other SBVfT I am aware of were not put into a job loss situation or they had fall back positions.

Yes it was indeed O'Neill who was the main spokesperson, but Gardner put it all on the line, and paid the price.

Good question there, but then again this happens to be a high profile case.

Myself, not only did I lose my job, but I had "visitors" from the government knock on the door for what I once posted.

Just be careful and try to get a hobby that pays.

I'm not passing any judgment. I'm just asking. And, last I knew, you don't have to have any moral authority to ask a question. But, just in case you do, what's your moral authority to question my questioning? lol : )

Freedom of speech is a noble concept that has never truly existed in the United States.
