Alien certainly qualifies as a horror film. The focus of the move was to scare you rather than wow you. The remoteness of space and the H.R. Geiger designs just added to the terror.

Yes. But I guess my point is You expect to find monsters aboard an derelict space craft. You don't expect to find them in Hatfield Ill. You expect man eating sharks in the ocean off Amity island. You don't expect long dead murdering ghosts in the fog floating in to Antonio Bay.
