An insurgent, why didn't ole' Michael Moore say that the terrorists were just like the American Minutemen? An insurgent is sort of a birkenstoker neologism, like "winning the peace," as Billery likes to say.

Why do they have guns and bombs in there? If they are not soldiers, and I presume they are not, doesn’t that make them spies?

I thought spies were soldiers or agents that disguised themselves as being enemy nationals. Use of spies is recognized as perfectly legitimate, provided one accepts that spies, if caught, are subject to execution. By contrast, fighters who disguise themselves as non-combatant nationals of their own country are war criminals.
