I bet that there have been a lot of firing squads.

Anyone know where to get some North Korean Currency? When N. Korea collapses I bet it goes up some 10000000% over the next 5-10 years. :)

Depends on what China's plans are and whether they can acheive peaceful change. Otherwise, it could be very ugly. And "ugly" is not a word we want to use when discussing regime-change in a place with nukes.
China may be deciding that N Korea is now a liability to their interests

Re #20
Well, you can be assured that these generals would be quite receptive to Chinese interpretation of history. The new regime will give up Koguryo, turning it over to China. Depending on how things go, N. Korea could become de-facto Chinese territory(protectorate.)

something interesting going on there... although i wouldn't put it past kim jong ill-in-the-head to try some bizarre disinformation.
bump for later - careful - reading.

Actually, this has been in the media a lot the last few days, but mostly from conservative sources, but not exclusively. Reports from Russia, India and here in the states - The American Thinker - have been speaking to much of the same information. Something is apparently happening, but no one outside the inner circle in North Korea knows for sure.

I guess that China is planning the following: When the move is taken against the mullahs in Iran, China will invade North Korea.

If China were to make such an outwardly provocative move, I would expect it to be against Taiwan.

So what is NYT implying?
Are we going to get a worse regime that the Kim Jong Il (hard to believe), or it will better than Kim Jong IL regime?

Re #32
More like a carbon copy of current Chinese regime. It won't be a belligerent Stalinist regime. However, it will follow Chinese line faithfully. And Chinese sphere of influence in E. Asia grows further.
A mixed blessing.

Correct,.......North Korea has been always under Chinese 'direct covert control',.......but,.....NEW 'Chinese' FLAG soon coming for North Korea?

This is not such entirely good news, because it hints that the Chinese may be making North Korea a protectorate. Where does that leave Korean reunification? It could mean that ultimately they wish to control all of Korea.
The Chinese would not like a reunified, democratic, capitalistic Korea right on their borders. They currently have no such country so close, except for Hong Kong, which they now own.

Very interesting. K-Boy being undermined by the PRC. It could happen. They are playing for the long run and obviously see his regieme as crumbling. They need stability.
