The r-w-b star in the address bar of Netscape, is visible to Netscapers, only. MSIE v6x users don't see it, sadly.

I just downloaded Mozilla Firefox and see it. Sorry I waited so long to use this browser. Beats the hell out of Internet Exploder.

Here is a link to a vanity thread I posted on this topic back in September.

Shows up fine in IE 6.0. That is, until you empty your temporary internet files. Then you'll have to add it to your favorites again.

You can see it in Internet Explorer. You just have to add a new link and move the old one out. I hadn't realized it was available until you told me, but I just put it on my bar.
I put my own icons on my links from one of my icon collections, but I like the new one from FR better.
Anyone who wants it just has to open Favorites and add a new link.

I had it for a few days, and now it's gone : (You're probably referring to an occurrence in Internet Explorer, and it's disappearance from the Links bar or your Favorites list?
This kind of icon is a "favicon" and is stored in a temp folder that is deleted by many computer cleaning and maintenance programs. You can save it by creating a permanent folder and then moving the icon to that folder. Numerous tutorials for doing this exist on the internet, just Google with keywords such as "saving favicons" and you will get lots of helpful instructions on doing this.
There's also a nifty little program called FavOrg which did this automatically as well as scanning the internet for new, replacement and updated Favicons. It used to be free but now it not :-(

You're welcome :-)
I'm not sure how to get the icon to permanently show up in the address bar as well, however.
It does this in other browsers, as other posters here have mentioned.
