While discussing this Chilean situation as a possible assassination scenario, a DU poster said, "Oh, I do so hope that he goes down hard and fast." Yes, our President and democratic system has many enemies -- at home and abroad. However, I repeat... they all would be VERY sorry if a pissed-off President Cheney took the helm.

The last I heard there were at least several hundred immigrant Arabs living over on the border triangle. More than 300 of these turds were identified as having contact with the Al Quieda. Most of these creeps are in the drug exporting business to the United states. These people are probably the ones blowing up banks down in Argentina. Arabs cause trouble nomatter where they go.

Cheney's just as much a straight-shooter as GWB is, and he's not afraid to get angry.

Have the south american chili's went and elected another Commie?
Pity.. Their probably trying to "seem" relevant to the URPeans.. Chilean machismo sucks like Richard Simmons dressed in a Flamenco dancers garb (the womans part w/ cassinets)

"No, my tinfoil hat is not too tight. They need to get him out of there."

I totally agree. It's nerve wracking to see Bush go abroad, but when the host country won't let our security protect the POTUS, that's unacceptable.

South America has been a hotbed of anti-American sentiment for a long long time. Nixon did run into trouble down there. So have other U.S. officials.

In the day and age of suicide bombers and car bombers, terrorists networking for success, the President's exposure to South American streets would be one of my biggest concerns.

I trust the Secret Service knows what they are doing. I hope the President would not over-rule their concerns regarding such a trip.

I wouldn't have wanted to see him travel to South America myself.

The president, looking irritated, straightened his shirt cuffs as he went into the dinner.

Sounds like the President handled the situation with the Sec. Serv. agent last night, and laid down the law to Chile today. I'm glad the dinner was cancelled. I don't want the President to be ANYWHERE that folks who can get close to him have not been screened!

Agree with your concerns. One too many security SNAFUs going on in Chile.

"Geez, I thought that the people suggesting that the incident with Bush's SS bodyguard might have been an assassination attempt were suffering from tinfoil poisoning."

No, I'm as tinfoil-averse as you are, but put that event in perpsective: The enemies of America have mounted a worldwide hate campaign against our President; the people who invented the term "assassin" are afoot across the globe; The President is abroad, at a none-too-stable third-world sinkhole; the local government goons try to separate him from his own security, in a setting where there are a lot of people milling around, all of them "above suspicion" and not likely to have been searched or vetted;

Now this comes out.

Bad sh7t here, and GW needs to leave, if he hasn't already.

What on earth is President Bush doing there? I won't rest easy until he's safely back home.

My sentiments exactly. No one with an ounce of intelligence wants to see the repercussions from a President Cheney. But when did we give our enemies credit for any intelligence?

Great points and I agree, Bush should leave now. But I seriously doubt he will.
