Military Believes Zarqawi Headquarters Found

NEAR FALLUJAH, Nov. 18 -- U.S. soldiers discovered a house in southern Fallujah on Thursday believed to be a main headquarters for Jordanian-born militant Abu Musab Zarqawi, the leader of an insurgent network responsible for bombings, kidnappings and beheadings across Iraq.

The soldiers found letters reportedly written by Zarqawi to his lieutenants, medical supplies from the U.S. Agency for International Development and the International Red Cross and boxes of ammunition from the Chinese and Jordanian armies.

The house, a simple cement structure, was on a block that Army Maj. David Johnson described as a "one-stop-shop for terrorists."

"That part of town is the most dangerous place on earth," said Johnson, a historian attached to 1st Infantry Divison's Task Force 2-2, which conducted the raid.

U.S. military officials have said they do not know where Zarqawi is or whether he remained in the city when American and Iraqi ground forces swept in the night of Nov. 8.

You are right on this. These terrorists who are not killed will be made into marytrs and victims by our liberal press.

Pray for the death of Zarqawi... I'd rather not see him drag out a show trial like Slobo. The next thing you know, kids on campuses will be wearing Zarqawi T-shirts.

I suspect that Berkley is selling Zarqawi T-shirts by the gross already.

The US Navy decommissioned the last several years ago. That battleship had 15 inch and 5 inch guns, plus cruise missiles and assorted other weapons.

16-inch/50 caliber guns.

Along with your "wish", might I add mine, that in the "aftermath" of the marine's deed, that the headless bodies of a "certain" free-lance reporter and his cameraman, would also be found, who had perrished minutes before the marine did his job.

He just wants to kill infidels like his Islamist soul-mates.

Soldiers said they found nobody alive on Wednesday."
"We found 'em alive on Tuesday!"

Then John Kerry found them alive again on Thursday

"...a factory for making car bombs that had a Ford
Explorer inside with Texas license plates."

"What in the world would explain that???"

It is OBL's wish to die in the belly of the beast...maybe that's his trojan horse hearse.

I think it was TN. There was that employee whose car mysteriously burned up, killing her, that they think was feeding them documents and such.

The USS Hull was not a battleship, but it did have an automatic 8 inch 55 caliber gun in the 1970s and 1980s.

Site Meter His capture - followed by a speedy trial - followed by a slow eating of his body from being dipped in acid would still be far too kind...

'No other non-battleship ship in the US Navy, or any other that I know of, has 8 inch guns.'

USS Long Beach? USN gun cruiser in Vietnam

USS Long Beach was originally all-missile; she got a couple of open-mount five-inchers added after a failed SHOOTEX for President Kennedy.

You're thinking of the USS Newport News, the last all-gun cruiser in the US Navy.

Stolen in TX, then driven across the border into Mexico

Do you have your H.E.A.T. decal? It authorizes law enforcement officers to stop the vehicle and verify ownership, between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., anywhere in Texas. So if don't use your vehicle between 1 and 5 am or use it so rarely that you don't mind being stopped, you can place this decal on your vehicle and if a policeman sees it on the street from 1 to 5 they will stop it and check that it isn't being driven by a thief. If it has the decal it will be stopped and the documents checked at the Mexican border as well.

Since the WP makes no mention of how long the facilities appeared to have been operating I would assume that they were there BEFORE spring 2003.

Never mind the headquarters. I want the head.

Or hindquarters.

You're right. My mistake. Iowa and SD and North Carolina classes all had 16 inchers. The Hood had 15 in and so did some older British classes.
