Hilbert offers to move out of mansion

Carmel, Nov. 16 - It was an intimate and astonishing financial portrait of former Conseco chairman Stephen Hilbert, who told a judge that apart from his $25 million mansion and $5 million in personal property, he's broke.

The former Conseco CEO was once the highest paid executive in America at over $100 million a year.

Earlier the same judge ruled that Hilbert must repay $72 million to Conseco for interest on unpaid loans.

On Tuesday, Hilbert and his wife Tomisue pledged $30 million to go into escrow while he appeals the case. That includes his Carmel mansion and the $5 million in personal property.

"We've made a difficult family decision that between now and the end of January, we're going to move from that home," says Hilbert.

Hilbert's attorneys are asking the court to accept the deal, which Conseco attorneys reject, saying the house and other property would hardly satisfy Hilbert's debt, also alleging that he has shifted up to $100 million to his wife to avoid paying the company.

"It's an appalling thing for them to come after my assets when I was on none of those loans," says Tomisue Hilbert.

I normally don't wish ill on anyone, but Tomisue is one snotty rich thing. I remember an interview during which she bragged, among other things, that her children had 24-hour-a-day child care.

Hey, Tomisue! My kid does too. We're called parents.

Tommisue if he switched the assets to you to avoid payment, which it sounds like he did, is should not legally be yours. Have fun being your own cleaning lady. Hahahahahahahahha. Couldn't happen to a lovelier POS rich b*tch.

I think she went to Broad Ripple, a public high school. I tried to google to check and found this. I can't access the articles because I'm not a subscriber.

That's more than legend.
So if they can attach her assets how long before she divorces him and shacks up with the pool boy.

One of my friend's business brought me into contact with some exotic dancers once. He had to pick up something at their residence once (they all shared a house). I doubt it had been cleaned since they moved in. LOL.

Ben Davis High School students weren't considered to be living on the poor side of town when Tomisue would have attended.
