Comparing the 2 side by side is not a smart exercise.

I know. The Shuttle isn't even flying right now, and if NASA is smart they won't fly it again.

"Give that money to private business and we'd have men living on Mars by now along with having space as an every day type of thing."

I'm still waiting for the day when we all have our personal flying saucers, like in the old "Jetsons" cartoon show.

Thank all for the live thread.

Looks like a success.

Pegasus ignition X43A separation and a significant scram jet burn, with maneuvering on decent.

When I was a kid in school I was told that space flight would be like a flight from la to vegas.
They lied.

And I know which 47% of the U.S. population I'd like to see go first!

I also remember as a kid seeing projections of futuristic cars, the cars we'd be driving in the year 2000, and they all looked like flying saucers on wheels, with bubble tops, fins, etc. Reality didn't quite turn out that way. LOL

Poohpah, I think you’ll have to bow to Southtack. He’s more right in that you wouldn’t even have computers if the British hadn’t developed radar & the “magnetron” to get the high frequencies.
The first spin-off in commercial applications and the forerunner of the microwave (I believe) was in the 50’s when Weyrhaeuser Lumber Company used the same principle to heat the glue in plywood. Before that, you always had a scorched side from the heated press.

The B-52, 008 launch vehicle flew its last test flight. What's going to take its place?

Note that I said MINIATURIZATION of computers, not computers themselves.

Anyone have the address of the NASA website with the test results on it? I missed it at the end of the NASA TV broadcast and there are no pointers from the main NASA site.

thanks
