Virginia ping!

Wouldn't it be something if the GOP nominee in 2008 is George Allen and the Dem nominee is Mark Warner??

He will need to get re-elected and do a good job the next 3 years and then he has a chance in the primaries.

It would make a lot of sense - so of course the 'Rats would never support him.

Warner was elected governor for two reasons:
1. Jim Gilmore was a very unpopular governor his last two years in office.
2. Mark Earley ran a terrible campaign, and many who are close to sensed that his heart wasn't really in it.

As far as the 'Rats go, Warner is way too moderate. The leftists in the party would never go for it.

It's so obvious - there are bound to be some successful Democratic governors in the South. That's the only kind of person the Democrats have elected to the WH since 1964, and I don't know why we would expect the field for the Democratic nomination to always be completely devoid of presidential timber - only one governor, and that a fringe candidate from Vermont - as it was this year.

The only question is whether the national Democratic Party is willing to settle for someone who isn't an obvious flaming lib like Kerry. And whether the junior senator from NY will prevent that. The Lieberman precedent doesn't augur well for an conservative contender for the Democratic nomination . . .

Dork Warner can't run for President after having been governor for four years. Warner will probably run against George Allen in 2006. I think Allen would clean Dork Warner's clock. To give you an example of what a lightweight Warner is, he wasted much of first year in office pushing for a change in the state's seatbelt law. If Warner wants to hang his hat on that, he can be my guest.

Hillary will not allow him to recieve the nomination. She may let an adversary put on a good show, but thats about it.

He's one of the few Democrats who would only draw nominal opposition from conservatives such as myself, due to his strong support for gun owners. I would probably vote for a Republican over him, but it would have to be a really good Republican.

Warner for President? He's a political non-entity, one term and one term only as governor and no other experience. Made a fortune reselling cellular spectrum licenses. Worked for a tax increase and now lo and behold Virginia has a sizeable surplus. Will I get a refund????

I would hope that the country has enough of a memory to realize that electing Southern governors to the Presidency is a Democrat ruse. They've just been Trojan horses for the Liberal agenda. They're Democrats for a reason -- they think the best way to run the country is to raise taxes.

I (as a Virginian, and a REAL one) can't wait for the end of Warner's term.

Well, TOM TANCREDO can and will crush anybody if he gets the REPUBLICAN nomination.

Tom Tancredo 2008 = Last Hope to Save America
Tom Tancredo 2008 = "Principled Conservative leadership money can't buy."
