Could he actually win the nomination if somehow this amendment was passed? Is this amendment a good idea to begin with?
The last question....I'd have to answer a big no.
I say no to an admendment.
I'd never vote for that steriod-using meathead.
The amendment would have no chance of being passed. The Fathers in their wisdom created the system whereby "Amendments may be proposed by 2/3 vote of Congress in both the House and Senate. Another method of proposing an amendment is for two-thirds of state legislatures to request Congress to call a Constitutional Convention; the Constitutional Convention proposes an amendment. After an amendment is proposed, 3/4 of the state legislatures must ratify the amendment, or, a majority vote in 3/4 of state conventions called to vote on the amendment."

Darn hard to do.
Just what we need, George Soros running for President with his billions.
He banned .50 Caliber BMG rifles that have never been used in a crime in California, he is pro-abortion, and we don't need to change the law about foreigners. Arnold should be satisfied with being Governator of Ca.
We should never amend the Constitution with just one person in mind. The American-born requirement has worked well; no need to change it.
Or some raghead in 15-20 years.
I tend to agree about Arnold. He is a liberal Republican and not sure about the politics of his wife, after all, she is related to ole Teddy and his clan.
This reminds me of the movie Demolition Man where Stallone learns that Arnold was President.
Too spooky.
So the left is OK with a constitutional amendment to permit foreign born citizens to run the country but they don't want conservatives to even think about prohibiting same sex marriage. They don't even want to think about absolutely declaring that a fetus is guaranteed constitutional protection from deliberate assault/murder.
It is called priorities.
NO! This opens the door to Soros running for President.
No! A thousand times NO!
At http://commdocs.house.gov/committees/judiciary/hju67306.000/hju67306_0.HTM one can read arguments presented to the SUBCOMMITTEE ON THE CONSTITUTION OF THE COMMITTEE ON THE JUDICIARY HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES such as:
"The natural-born citizen qualification continues to provide to the political system of the United States a certain level of protection against the influence of foreign nations. In addition to this safeguard, the requirement also secures the ability of the President to make decisions involving domestic and foreign policy that are in the best interests of the United States without an inherent emotional or familial attachment to another nation."
I doubt the Constitution will be amended for Arnold. He's a dream candidate and the Democrats would have to commit political hara-kiri to allow him to run for President. They may be many things, but stupid ain't one of them.
I will actively work against the amendment! But then I will actively work against Arnold running again in this state!
That's the ultimate in brass cojones - amend the Constitution to benefit *one person* in particular.
Jeesh.
In another thread I had mentioned that this will be happening and swiftly and someone responded and said nothing was going on about it, well I call ADS trying to encourage it a bit of a concern.
We need to stop it before it takes hold.
If Libs want Schwarz in ahhh what does that tell you?
RINO
I am perfectly ok with American born candidates, do not want a lib from another country (most other countries are liberal) to run our Country.
It keeps amazing me the wisdom of our founding fathers. These were men far ahead of their time. There is still no documents like our founding documents and there never will be.
I can never imagine enough people wanting this amendment to make it happen.
They better run them outside of CA. That's only one state. It takes at least 67 senators from a minimum of 34 states to pass a constitutional amendment in the Senate. CA only has 53 Congressmen which is just 18% of the 290 votes necessary to pass a constitutional amendment in the House assumin all the CA congressmen voted in favor of it. Then the legislatures of 38 states would have to ratify. I'm so glad the idiots who want to change our constitution have no clue as to the mechanics of how to do it.
Nothing against Arnold, but the President should be born and raised in America. Plus, for me to even consider voting for him, he would have to drastically change his positions on abortion, marriage, and the 2nd Amendment.
