Milaukee radio talk show host Charles Sykes updated listeners this morning on the organized attacks from the left to silence Mark Belling, a Milwaukee conservative talk radio host and competitor of Sykes.
Belling has been suspended for the last two days from doing his popular talk show in Milwaukee, The Mark Belling Late Afternoon Show. The suspension stems from Belling's use of the term "wetbacks" to describe illegal alien voters.
The wetback slur prompted liberal groups from all over Milwaukee to demand that Belling be fired. The SILENCE BELLING MOVEMENT is being led by all the usual left wing suspects, including Latino newspaper publisher Victor Huyke, and Robert Miranda, a local leftie ne'er-do-well complainer.
Yesterday on Sykes' show, Latino newspaper publisher Victor Huyke, one of the leaders of the movement to have Belling fired for uttering a slur, uttered one himself. Huyke told Sykes on the air that Milwaukee Latinos would not be treated "like a retarded kid sitting in the corner."
Today, Sykes read a letter of apology from Huyke, who stated that he sincerely was sorry for using the term "retarded" to describe the mentally challenged.
Sykes also read excerpts from an article critical of Belling written by another leader of the SILENCE BELLING MOVEMENT, Robert Miranda, who wrote the following article comparing Belling to Hitler:

Sykes also referred to an email he received from a Shorewood man, a counter-protester at a SILENCE BELLING MOVEMENT rally. At the rally, the coutner-prtester was called a "Klansman" and a "Nazi" by Mr. Miranda.
Sykes asked listeners rhetorically: Is the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel going to mention the Huyke slur? And how is comparing Belling to Hitler, and calling Belling supporters "Nazis," not hate speech?
I would urge anyone who is interested to email any of the following media outlets and ask them whether they intend to cover the slurs of Huyke and Miranda with the same level of enthusiasm that has colored the coverage of the SILENCE BELLING MOVEMENT.

How difficult would it be to organize a counter-protest to the liberal brownshirts at the radio station and the TV station to make the voices of the majority heard, instead of just the Looney Liberals? We heard our president called a Nazi, a cheap thug, a murderer, AWOL (using forged documents), a terrorist, equivalent to Hitler, worse than Saddam, compared to a chimpanzee, et al.; now one derogatory word used to describe a criminal — yes, criminal — element in this country and the liberals react like a bunch of girlie men. Charlie Sykes was correct this morning; except for him, there is a total media blackout on the other side of this story.
There is not a word on this from WISN radio. That is what is so frustrating. They have not been responsive to their listeners. The views of Belling's supporters are not being heard.
They need to get off their butts, but they are probably scared to appear 'insensitive' by fighting back.
Liberals get to hurl insults at whoever they want. Conservatives must sit back and take it.
You won't hear anything about the right's opinion, or anything from the right through the liberal news outlets. This is how they operate. Physical protest is the only wat and right outside their front door.
They want us to be silenced, only their opinion is to be heard and adheared to. Take it to the courts and you will find yourself infront of a socialist judge. Read the stories about the Dutch Right Wing Party Conservatives. They have been OUTLAWED in that country. When will they attempt to do that here?!!

I have heard that the theory of "wet foot" or "dry foot" is used when determining if someone is allowed to stay and ask for asylum after being captured by the coast guard.
If you have a "wet foot" as you would if you were swimming to get the US, it is ok. If your foot is dry, you are deported. So, many on board boats jump overboard, so they will have a "wet foot". So, is the issue one of semantics here? Wet back? Wet foot? What is the difference? It means the same thing; it is someone trying to get to the US illegally.
The local people at WISN have been gagged by Clearchannel corporate. Corporate management is directly behind Belling's suspension.
Apparently, Clearchannel is in the process of setting up a network of spanish-lanquage stations across the country. They are afraid that this will hurt the endeavor.
Personally, the biggest issue are the many politicians calling for Belling's firing. This is true censorship -- government officials working to silence an opposition voice in the media.
Agreed. Most of the people leading the silence Belling movement have a pre-existing anti-Belling agenda. One example is the Milwaukee county board.
..and the guy from MATC, which belling has ripped repeatedly.
If belling gets fired, WTMJ should hire him for the same time slot. I know they're owned by the Journal, but they know a money maker when they see it.

OK, great, I'm up for this, but is this the best we can do? Should we scream foul to the FCC? Why is Belling be singled out when Franken & Kuby call the President a Nazi?
Another thought is that Rush & Sean should be all over this.
Just what we need in America ... a Spanish language radio network. Hello??? This is America, we speak English here. My grandparents were immigrants in the 1920s, my parents, aunts and uncles grew up in homes where they were taught English in order to assimilate into American culture. But the poison pill of multiculturalism has brought us to this point.

Why just e-mail? I wonder how many posters to this board from the area we could get to show up for a rally to support both Belling and free speech and protest the liberal brownshirts at WISN (radio) and WDJT (TV)?
As a German-American, I am offended by Robert Miranda's editorial. I was sitting on the fence about this entire subject, until now. Robert Miranda bigotted rant should not be given a pass.
I think you have that backwards. Wet feet will get you deported, while having one foot on dry land proves you've made it to the US without any kind of government help & allows you to ask for santuary. It only applies to Cubans. They jump out of boats in the hope that they can get to shore before they are caught. If you have numerous people swimming in all different directions, it's more difficult to catch all of them than it is if they are all together on a boat.
Yes, we need more than just an email campaign. Emails can be deleted and ignored. As Belling would say, the only way to change something is to make a big stink about it. Flood their voicemail inbox. Call all the leaders of the protest and tell them that destroying a man's career is mean-spirited. Putting a man's face on a pinata is hateful.
If someone wants to organize a counter-protest on Saturday afternoon, I'll be there.
