Suggesting that you ask someone their reaction to a hypothetical situation is selfish. That's even more tortured then the perpetually changing hypothetical. I guess it would appear selfish when your arguments are without merit.
You could have answered the question civilly, along the lines of "well, because of my circumstances, that would never happen to me, BUT if I did not have those circumstances, I think that I would ... whatever ..."
Instead you play parsing lawyer.
