I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised by how prefessional and committed some of these Iraqi soldiers seem. In the night vision shot near the top, I thought it was one our guys, until I noticed that the soldier was carrying an AK.
A few weeks ago, there was a pretty memorable photo of an Iraqi guardsman in uniform and bulletproof vest, with the Iraqi flag wrapped around his shoulders. Good to see that at least some Iraqis are willing to give it all to bring security to their country.

Can't believe no-one has mentioned (at least on THIS thread) yet how many civilians have been toasted due to these "unaimed" mortars and indiscriminate machine gun fire.

The Syrians were claiming a few days ago that they would be more diligent in preventing foreign fighters and terrorists from crossing their border into Iraq.

The Viet Cong did the same thing to us in Vietnam. Not really accurate, but great for harrassment.
Of course, any civilian and non-combatant casualties will be blamed on the Americans.

It would appear that the AP is consorting with the enemy. That was my first thought, too. Followed shortly by, 'What'd ya expect?' given the organization's loyalties revealed during the Presidential campaign.
To play off MB Cahill's comments, I'd say the photographer is "fair game". What the toothpicks is he doing shooting the enemy with a camera instead of a gun?!?

I seem to recall a post that reporters were afraid to be embedded on our side. Guess if you are on their side you can be assured of safety.
From what I gather, reporters aren't well liked by our side, no matter WHO they (the reporters) root for. :-)

Fantastic job. It provides a better visual and storyline than the network news I just watched, great captioning too.
To: Texaggie79
Who takes these pictures? I hope it's not a western journalist. They just stand by and take pictures of men trying to kill our soldiers.it probably is western journalists, that is their job after all. besides, they are not in a position to do much of anything about it. if it was me taking the pictures, i would be afraid that these morons would shoot their mortar rounds at me.
besides, IF they are sharing pics with the military, these could prove useful -- to help identify the dead if nothing else. (smile)

Can't believe no-one has mentioned (at least on THIS thread) yet how many civilians have been toasted due to these "unaimed" mortars and indiscriminate machine gun firesome peace-nik from europe will run a study in a few months showing the number and then saying if the united states had given more warning, all the civilians would have fled. so it will be the us fault, mark my words.

From what I gather, reporters aren't well liked by our side, no matter WHO they (the reporters) root for. :-)reporters are like carrying around 200 pounds of dead weight that does not cover your backside. i like the idea of having them, but they don't necessarily help our troups, with the exception of a few reporters. i have to believe that having PRO-USA cheerleaders like geraldo and oliver over there is a great morale booster. the others have got to be a drain...
