Someone here said recently that Bush's #1 mistake in early 2001 was not dumping Tenet as soon as possible.

Their sources are so "secret" that they don't know who they are themselves. Don't believe anything this rag puts out. Agenda driven propaganda.

There is no longer a need for the CIA.
They should be disbanded and a new organization should be built from the ground up.

I believe that this Carter/Clinton pos is no longer with the CIA. The liar of the Slimes should have noted a former CIA pos in his first paragraph.
"Michael Scheuer, the former chief of the C.I.A.'s Osama bin Laden unit and the author of a best-selling book critical of the administration's handling of the fight against terrorism, said in an interview with The New York Times this weekend that the government "doesn't respect the threat" because most officials still regard Al Qaeda as a terrorist organization that can be defeated by arresting or killing its operatives one at a time."
Another GW hit article from the NY Slimes which is under SEC investigation for fraud re phoney # of subscribers and news stand sales. The NY Slimes is incapable of printing the truth.

It was global before and in the dark. We have cast a bright light on it and they are scurry about like the rats they are. Now it is time to exterminate them.

They do name their source. Not that that makes the article any better!

WASHINGTON, Nov. 7 - The Bush administration has failed to recognize that Al Qaeda is now a global Islamic insurgency, rather than a traditional terrorist organization, and so poses a much different threat than previously believed, says a senior counterterrorism official at the Central Intelligence Agency.
You can stick this in the "no sh!t, Sherlock" file. Wow, AQ is a global threat? Gee, ya think maybe this is why we went after them instead of treating it like a law enforcement problem?

This guy Michael Scheuer is just extra-bitter because the Bush re-election killed his political apointee aspirations. He figured that his inflammatory book and revisionist perspective on recent history would get him in tight with the Kerry administration.

The author fails to realize the Bush administration has operated under this understanding from the start.
The war in Iraq is a consequence of this as is the effort to to make Iraq and Afghanistan deocratic and free.
Most of the hysterical criticism of Bush has been over acting on the fact that this is a "global Islamic insurgency" wherein critics have said Bush is not going against al Qaeda enough and Iraq didn't attack us etc...

The Bush administration has failed to recognize that Al Qaeda is now a global Islamic insurgency,I guess this explains why we have Special Forces deployed all around the globe.

In an unrelated story, the news media has been saying that President Bush doesn't understand much of anything, and that his critics and opponents understand everything. (':
