HOUSTON - A death row inmate was found hanging by a sheet in his cell in an apparent suicide, state prison officials said Wednesday.
Deon Tumblin, 27, was found Tuesday evening, officials said. Efforts to resuscitate him at the scene failed and he was pronounced dead in the prison infirmary.
The prison system's inspector general's office was investigating.
Tumblin had been condemned for strangling a 75-year-old woman at her home in 2000, then taking her car.
He arrived at the Polunsky Unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, northeast of Houston, in early 2001. He did not have an execution date.

We should put a plaque in his honor in the cell and make sure all death row inmates are provided with bedsheets. The needle is cheap enough, but the cost of litigation is not.

If only the remainder of those awaiting execution for their hedious crimes would be so forthcoming.......

How thoughtful of him! Its double-licious - saves the taxpayers some of their hard-earned money and takes out the trash at the same time.
We should have a whip-round for a Deon Tumblin Memorial Toilet or something. I'll spring for the 1 x 4 brass blank for the plaque.

What is wrong with this picture?

A death row inmate
Seems he saved the state some money. Does it make sense to make 'efforts to resuscitate' someone who is supposed to be put to death?
"Hey, come back to life....so we can execute ya!"

Yes, I caught that too. I've always wondered why they so carefully swab the skin with alcohol where the death needle gets inserted too. Are they afraid the inmate will drop dead of a skin infection before the drugs take effect?

Well, that's too bad.
How's the weather look for everyone today? Hot here in FL, but we're getting a cold front tomorrow. Should be a beautiful weekend.
