The Big Loser In This Election: The Big Media
AccessNorthGA.com ^ | 11/3/04 | Gordon Sawyer

I think it is fair to say the biggest loser in this election has been America's mainstream media ... the BIG media ... the three old-line television networks, ABC, CBS and NBC ... newspapers like the New York Times and the Washington Post and down to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. We have come to expect them to have a liberal bias in their news columns as well as their editorial pages, but never before have we seen these so-called news sources so blatantly partisan as they have been this year.

The poster child of news bias this election cycle, of course, was Dan Rather and his "60 Minutes" episode in which he attacked the military record of President Bush, and used forged documents from a long-time discredited source as the basis for his story. When he got caught, he stood by his story, arrogantly insisting we should believe him because he was who he was. And when CBS finally admitted the story was untrue, they announced an investigation by so-called impartial people, but have you noticed: the election is over and we have not heard a report from either CBS or their investigators.

And the great, gray New York Times ... which prior to the election fired its editor and managing editor because of a scandal involving non-factual reporting ... continued its liberal bias, not only in its editorial pages but also on the news pages. Close to the end of the campaign CBS and the New York Times and others in the liberal media, accused the American military of not securing hundreds of tons of high explosives in Iraq even though the military people on the ground said it was not so.

There were other examples, many of them, but the obvious point is that all of these so-called news stories were heavily biased to the left. To be effective, the free press must have the respect of the American people. But in this year's campaign, America's elite media hit a new low in trust, and in so doing became the biggest loser in the 2004 elections.

I think you have a good point, but let's not forget the big winners in this election were the bloggers, and Freepers who brought the MSM down a peg.

If only one of them had the balls, they could snap their fingers and be at the Right of FOXNEWS...thereby skyrocketing them to #1 ratings.

HELLO?? Is anyone there?

I think I finally get it why these corporate muckety mucks tolerate class warrior shills in anchor positions. They play both ends against the middle. The swifties and the RNC have to pay to play. Millions of dollars were raised and spent to counter the leftist media agenda. The executives are laughing all the way to the bank. Time Warner, Viacom etc are the big winners. I am talking hundreds of millions of dollars. Until we wake up and boycott these bastards, we are punching a demon that grows stronger with every punch we land.

Yes, the Lamestream Media will be the big losers who are around for the long term, but there are some other big losers who may not be around for the long term.

For example, Muktada al-Sadir filed to have his name changed to Mukturder al-Shiiter because he will be shiiting in his pants.

Al Zarqawi contacted an attorney to write a new Last Will and Testament leaving his favorite goat to his first-born son. He also wants Alawi to guarantee the goat free passage out of Falujah before it becomes Fallen-Ujah.

In my business we call that a “clue”. Alas - the persons running these news agencies appear to be clueless when it comes to the pulse of the general public – or maybe the really don’t care. In any case, somehow we have to get the attention of the guys in the corner offices. I say again – ratings and revenue is all that really matters to the CFOs/CEOs.

The arrogance of these people is staggering. And sobering. A candidate, with an INSURMOUNTABLE lead with 99% of the vote in, doesnt necc. win a state. Because the other party, favored by MSM, well, just might need it.

New equasion = most votes + approval of Rat party = a state called for Rebublicans.

Don't forget the icing on the cake - when the LA times said the story was false but the message is true (or words to that effect).

Don't forget the Swift Boat Vets, they really did a stellar job of bringing the truth to the Public. Without the Swifties, we might have a different New President. They didn't give up, they just kept on Keeping ON.

Hummm,

I think your explanation actually makes a lot of sense. I had been wondering the same thing.

Did my heart good to watch Wolf Blitzer go through the motions with hardly anyone watching. I actually tuned in for a few moments to see how jittery he was. Rather was in the "I'm not calling anything unless you've got a gun" mode.

On another thread I said I thought this was the end of an era, when it comes to the MSM. Certaily by 2008, the MSM will cover election night entirely differently, different players and other changes.

It will be interesting to see what they opt for.

You know, you've given me an idea.

What if we were to develop a more "official" network of citizen reporters to cover events and stop having to interpret the MSM's crumbs.

We could eventually achieve the level of access they have since we will soon be the "mainstream" source of news for most Americans.

Your thoughts?
